Local shops selling stuff near the falls.
What would customs say about that.
In dry season you can do this. We explored and swam in the pools off to the right of the main falls.
All of you that bet I am crazy may be right. Who bet the fish couldn't swim?
Oops, wrong thread.
Nice box.
Vat Phou. Naga?
What is that to the left?
What were they thinking?
It's on the west side of this mountain. The falls are further south at the border.
I have read that the name of this mountain is mount__________ ? I'll leave it at that.
I'm not trying to be a dick.............................................. .......fish.
That's a clue. It's said to be a phallic symbol. And you thought I was just being cocky.

That Katie is sure funny. If only I were 23 again.
I brought my GF 18 bluegills yesterday that I fished out of the pond at dusk. Today she has been hounding me to get off this box and go get some more. I guess I shouldn't complain. If only I could turn back time. fish?
PS, nothing wrong with bobing p__sy. What would the stone carvers have thought? I'd guess they'd have a leg up on that. Just guessing.

Siskel and Ebert would give it two thumbs up.
No not this thread silly. That last thought.
Ok so you probably don't know who these guys are. Two film critics that were mainstream USA.
I really can swim.
And thanks for the positive feedback. It ain't over till it's over. Stay tuned for more great scenes.
I reread the script and I must say that the plot thickened and took on an undercurrent all its own as soon as that goat type thing appeared.
I've gone overboard. I hope to no offense. Cheers............................................ ............fish
I'll try to stick with one liners as I don't want to spin in the slipstream of tide less unreasoning.
That's for those down under of course.
I'd seppo it's hard to follow .................................................. .the fish.

Bought a new bicycle yesterday. 85usd. Sorry no pics just jet. I may have time once settled in. Heck I haven't even put a line in the river yet. Did pick up 4g wifi and it actually works.
Peace out, fish.
^fish, are you in Laos now? Will we see & hear some fishing adventures from rural Laos?
Yes in Lao. Hot air balloon ride in Vang Vieng was spectacular.
I bought a new boat yesterday. It's being delivered now as we went far south of Pakse to the guys that built it. When I have time I will try to post some pics. Trying to learn a new version of windows and I hate it. Still pretty busy getting settled in at the farm now.
We did the Vientiane tour for a few days before heading to Vang Vieng . Buddah park and all the usual touristy places. Then south to Pakse to visit the rest of the family after a few days in Vang Vieng.
Now we are slowing down for a while at the farm house. Touring Pakse area.
Peace out, fish.

Trying to post picks from phone.
As usual the fish is clueless.
Weather is fine however
You may have to wait untill January for any pics. I just don't get it.
This minor setback buys pizza some time.
I would like a pizza about now. Any body know where to get one delivered to tim buck too.The little things we take for granted are all evident once in Laos.
The neat thing is as I sit on the deck overlooking the darkness of the night to the other side of the Mekong I've made friends with a moth type creature that thinks cargo pants are still in style. Apparently it fancies mine.

Cheers, fish. Enjoy your time in rural Laos. We can wait till January for the pix, no rush.
Re: pic uploading, why not try photobucket or some other pic-hosting site? That way, you have control of your pics too - can delete them when you want to. If you flounce or whatever. Lol. I've found PB easier than the TD gallery.
Re: pizza, can u buy pizza crust from supermarkets there? Maybe you can buy the crust, then put your own topping & make your own pizza. If they don't sell pizza crust in supermarkets, you could try how pinoys do it. For those w/o ovens, we use the 'american loaf' style bread. Spread tomato paste on the bread, add some meat, bell peppers, onions & cheese, then place in an oven toaster. If no oven toaster, we use a frying pan, w/o oil. Home made pizza for poor ppl. Easier too, since we don't have to make the dough or crust. It's not the same, but it's our substitute. Cheers!
I did find a guy that lived in Paris for many years. He runs a bakery in Pakse. I bought a birthday cake from him and it was superb. I'm sure if I look around I could find most anything.
I use a sketch pad pocket note book to bridge the gaps in lingo. Did the same last time in as well. Gotta run. Fish.
Great photos.
Great photos.
Fight the good fight fish, I to am of to the hedonistic delights of vang vieng this weekend, I've an old mate in town visiting so want to show him around a bit, might give the balloooning a try if we can muster the courage, or maybe we will get half pissed first and have some Dutch courage , I will be taking a close look at the balloon pilot before making my decision though, hopefully they fly balloons better than they drive? Keep you posted on how that works out
Honestly it was amazing. We did the am flight and we got in the six man basket, the first in the air on the advice of a German gal that was in the tuck tuck that picked us up from the hotel at 0540.
She said she talked to the balloonist (sp?) before booking the flight. She said he had fifteen years under his belt.
He is a Japanese guy that really knew the wind directon at different altitudes. The wind is super calm in the am so it was great. He set us down 30 meters from the ground crews truck. No joke it was like nothing I would have imagined. He dropped a rope and they laid the basket down spot on. They allready had the tarp laid out to deflate and wrap the balloon on so it could be loaded and back up in no time. We just got back in the took took and were back at the hotel in pleanty of time for breakfast.
I give it two thumbs up and I'm not easily impressed. Wish I could post a few picks but just take my word I don't think you'll get that anywhere else in the world for 90usd. Priceless in my opinion so go for it.
We got lucky as our driver grew up with the tour operators so all was good. Did the zipline for 30usd as well. Took mabey a hour and a half so no day treck. Trucked us in, climbed a bit and all downhill from there. Amazing!!!
We stayed at a place that was right on the river. I think it was called The Grand somthing or other. Not disappointed as the luxury sweet was nowhere near a grand. More like 80usd. The wierd thing was all the bathroom vent fans exhausted to the main hallways. I found that strange and a bit of a funk smell in the halls at times.
Was happy none the less and treated our driver, niebor of gfs brother in VTE to a sweet room. #888 as I recall and we were across the hall in #777. Talk about lucky. Miss fish was very happy as I splurged for the driver and the gfs brother on one suite for them. I don't think they expected that as the deal was I would get them a room as part of driving us around.
The best views I belive I've ever had from any hotels in Asia. Sad that they appear to be building a new place across the river and that will detract from the views .
