Exchange booths

A couple of questions, but first an explanation. I have some UK bank notes which have writing/marks on them. My local bank will not exchange them due to this.
First question. If I go to Pattaya, will the soi money exchangers take them ? Secondly, are their rates any different to the bank rates ? Thanks.

The worst rates are given by the banks.

Dont know about Psttaya. But the best exchange rates in bangkok is Vasu on corner of 7/1.

I see the pounds a plummeting

Teerak gets the notes that "changers" and banks won't take, rare but happens, who/how she changes to TBH is a question that I do not ask. As good a rate as I get............

TT Exchange in Pattaya( yellow livery, booths on Beach Road and soi bukhao) offer good rates compared to some others.

Whether they will take marked notes I don`t know.

I have an account with Bangkok Bank, and if i have marked notes i have no problem changing them but other Banks give lots of trouble , so try them or it may be just that i have an account with them.

Have you tried the money change place at the top of Soi 4 Jomtien next door to the British Consulate?

Good rates and cash only.

The unfortunate thing is I live up North, a 5 hour drive away from Pattaya. So I've either got to make a journey there, or get someone who's going there to do for me. But the biggest question still hasn't been answered. Will the exchange booths take spoilt/marked notes? No point going if they don't.
So a tip learned. Do not travel abroad with any cash, unless it's mint fresh.

I bank with the Bangkok Bank but they wouldn't take any that were marked. None were torn. They were still in the UK bank note wrapper.

Booth in Soi Diana opposite LK Rennaisance, no problems, good rate too. I have had the same problem in Khon Buri, and even those they take they photocopy them, and you have to sign each A4 page. What a polava. If you are changing large ammounts £1000 plus try bank gold near Mikes Food Mall, not a bank but a chinese operated shop. They also take marked notes.

I have had mixed experience wherever I have been in the country. Some booths take them, some dont. Same with the banks, some refuse and next door will accept. It can quite frustrating at times. I always imagine some old crone out back ironing them and putting them in the vault.

I had some old twenties a few years ago (which were still legal tender). Some with Elgar and others with Smith (I think it was around 2008). I got the Elgar`s handed back and nowhere would take them.
