    Income certification (marriage extension)

Hi People, noob here (but not to LOS).

OK, easy question, currently on a 12 month non-o (married to a Thai) visa. I want to get my first extension of stay, I understand that I must now show an income of 40,000 Baht per month.

My income is generated overseas (I'm a freelance engineering consultant), I am paid a retainer by a HongKong company (actually enough to meet the 40k) plus a daily rate for services provided (outside Thailand).

Monies are paid into a Luxembourg bank.

So, what proof will immigration need to see, contracts, bank statements etc? Do these documents need to be certified by the (British in my case) embassy?

Any other info is welcomed of course.

I don't know about other embassies but at the U. S. Embassy they question nothing. You fill out the form and they issue the letter with the figures you provide.

The wording given by the Immigration Dept is delightfully vague
"Evidence indicating income along with related documents. "
This rule only started in October so it is difficult to give advise on how each bureau is interpreting it.

It would appear that you will need a certified statement from the british embassy (or the consulate in ChiangMai) and some payslips or bank statements to back it up.

The best idea would be to ring the immigration office that you intend to use and ask them what they require as the rules often vary in different locations.

There is a 24/7 Immigration Advice phone number now.
Just dial 1111. Charged at local rate 3 baht a call.

However I would still recommend phoning the office you will be using.

Hi there, I am also a newbie to this site but I have just completed my second years application. You do not need a monthly income of 40,000 baht, but you will need to show that you have 40,000 held in a Thai bank account for a period of 60 days prior to your application, for this you will require to take your bank statements along to the British consular department of the embassy to verify your income for the previous year up to date, and request from them that they will give you the letter necessary for your visa. I forget exactly what this cost me but it was below 3,000 and above 2,000 baht, I seem to remember that it was 2,750, but that is what old age does. You make your request as early as possible and then return back at 2pm to collect your letter.
When the 2 months has passed with the required amount in the Thai bank account you will need to then go to the bank and get a letter from them to verify that it is there for the specified time my bank charge me 100 baht for this service.
Take the two letters and your bankbook and you passport and a photocopy to the immigration department at Chaeng Wattana fill in the TM 47 form at the reception, and if this is your first time please do not forget to take some passport type photos. hand in the TM 47 to the receptionist and go through the security into the main department walk ahead about 10 paces and then turn through 90 degrees left and you will see 3 officers hand them your passport and they will give you a ticket, It will have a number preceded by a letter, you will need to locate the letter queue and take a seat, until called. If your turn is not called before lunch then you and everyone is removed from the office, my suggestion here is to go to the lower floor and go to the canteen where all the staff are eating, (a Thai national pastime), return to the office an Hour later where there will be a massive crowd gathered , wait for your number go in and see the officer pass them your bank book, letters and passport. After it has been processed you will be charged 1900 baht and a slip of paper will be put in your passport with instructions to return agai at a later date to collect your visa , this is usually around 2 weeks, go back then and collect and that is about it ,,,, good luck and kind regards

I was at the consular section in Bangkok yesterday.
2070 baht for the confirmation of income letter.
BTW. If you're going the banking way ^ it's 400000 baht.
I used copies from my account in the UK for confirmation of income.
