But see the problem is that they didn't attack us with a big military. They used guerilla tactics, so, why didn't we?
Since we invaded and overthrew the Taliban life is now worse than it was when the Taliban were in power. We didn't solve the probelm; we simply overthrew a legitimate government and replaced it with another corrupt one. Once we leave the problem will come back again because we think the solution to everything is a military one.
So, now, because of what we have done we have energized a new generation of terrorists.
I don't give two shits either about what other nations think, but, I do give two shits about whether or not what we are doing is in the best interest of this nation for the long term. From the late 1960s until 9-11 we were on a downward trend of attacks against Americans, and, in most years that number was between 5-15.
Do you think the terrrorists are now more afraid or more embolded by our failures in Iraq and our continuing failure in Afghanistan? You can't force people to accept a form of government that they don't want.
We haven't solved a thing because there wasn't a problem to solve in the first place.
Aside from the perfect storm that was 9-11 the risk to any American's life of being killed by a terrorist was and is still so small (1 in 200,000,000) that the ends aren't justifying the means.
