    Project management companies in Thailand

    Does anyone have any contacts, or links to International Project Management Companies based in Thailand?

    The following names come to mind, but there must be many others in the Asian region:

    Foster Wheeler
    Fluor
    UOP

    I'd be interested in petroleum-based, or chemical-industries based project work. I've worked as a Project Engineer, Project Manager in typical companies back home. I'm looking for some contract & shutdown work.

    Thanks so much for your help.

    I'm afraid no.

    Did you ever play with IRR and NPV, Diaw?

    I'm not an accountant, but certainly as a Project Engineer/Manager I used:

    IRR = internal rate-of-return
    NPV = net present value

    to evaluate a potential project... standard stuff...

    Its not for accountants mate. Its for financial analysts.

    Could you tell me a lil bit about your project management skills? I mean what areas of PM? I might be able to get you some work (not promising though).

    Thanks Macha,

    Half of my Engineering background has been in the Petrochemical & Chemical Industries - starting as Junior Project Engineer & ending up as a Technical Director for a large concern.

    I've seen many a shutdown from the design, drawing, planning, tie-in, shut, commissioning, online stages. I've worked on & managed refinery shuts & worked for two Petrochem companies - Shell & Mobil (names varied back home). Rebuilt complete chemical plants - acid, ammonia, alkylation (HF). I've also worked on longer projects with Foster Wheeler in petrochem - PP Splitter - PFD's, EFD's, HAZOPs...

    I've also worked on simulation & design - heat-exchangers (many), energy optimisation, pipe stress (Caesar), pressure vessel design, fluidised-bed, HP boilers, 160 bar pipe systems.

    I used to love in/out tight shutdowns - plan, build, in, check, out - work against the clock, get paid. Used to enjoy the pressure.

    I've a detailed 2 page (condensed) resume & a more full capability profile, that I'd be happy to send. I'd appreciate any leads I could get. Thanks so much.

    Diaw mate, I'm afraid I know nothing about petrochemical industries in Thailand.

    Why don't you google and look for such companies in Kuwait, Dubai where they have no problem with hiring westerners.

    A good thought, Macha... I thought I'd start in the general vicinity of where I am at the moment & then broaden the search once I get a better feel of the lay-of-the-land...

    My experience splits 50:50 into petrochemical & automotive component manufacture. The latter is dominated by the Japs over here & is pretty closed shop Jap-Thai, except for a few wholly Thai-owned companies.

    I'll look into the ME a little later. Was hoping not to end up there due to their instability problems.
