6 geese arrived in the back of a pickup yesterday.

They flew into the pond....pond has deep sides....they could not get out.

12 hours in the pond overnight.

I had to dig the fuckers steps this morning to get out....stoooopid things.

they make a lot of noise.....anyone ever cooked a goose ?

never heard of roasted goose before.

anyway, they were expensive....guy said they laid golden eggs, so we bought up big.

We purchase a pair at my friends store, not for eating ,never liked the taste of water fowl, they clean up all the weeds and grass in my yard, but they do shit all over. had to make a big enclosure in my yard for them. I hope to breed them and sell the chicks. I was told they would be very noisy have not been so in the few months that I have had them.

The trouble with eating goose is that it has way too much fat

The great thing about geese is all the excellent fat that comes out during the cooking process and can be used to make superb roast potatoes.

Indeed. Througout Western culinary circles, rendered goose fat is prized as a cooking conduit. Potatoes work quite nicely, among other foods.

whem in Europe I always have a goose for Xmas, rather than some inedible turkey

very tasty, much better than duck, for instance. Delicious

you cook them on a trivet or griddle in the oven, the fat runs out and can be kept
