Man caught cheating at the Buffalo races

    Updated: [November 23, 2009 ] :
SCANDAL Rhttp://www.pattayadailynews.com/shownews.php?IDNEWS=0000011178 ROCKS THE RECENT BUFFALO RACES IN PATTAYA

A scandal broke out recently at the buffalo races held at the Mabprachan reservoir, where officials found one owner to be illegally using an electrically charged whip to improve his chances of winning the races.

Pattaya, the 22nd of November 2009 [PDN]: Officials at the buffalo race contest at the Mabprachan Reservoir confiscated an electrical whip from one of the owners, also barring him from the competition. There are 5 different weight classes in the buffalo races with the winner of each class receiving a small sum of money and a trophy.

When it was discovered that one of the buffalo owners was using an electrical whip to enhance his chances of winning the event, officials quickly pounced, removing the aforementioned whip and disqualifying the competitor from the events. The whip was designed to provide an electric shock to the animal upon contact with its skin, with the intent on making him run faster due to the increased pain involved with the strike.

No other forms of illegal equipment were found at the races and a fun day ensued for all.

Big news out of Pattaya, must be a slow day....no deaths, rapes or murders, makes a change.

Believe it or not, Thailand does have laws against animal cruelty. Of course they are ignored just like the laws against prostitution. I've read them myself in the English translated version of the Thai Criminal Code, which is an interesting book to have. This joker really deserves to be charged with cruelty if nothing else is applicable.

    Oh PH..........

I too know about the cruelty to animals law...Isn't it a 7k fine and upto 3yrs in the clink??? or 7mths in the clink..been a while since I bothered to read any of their crap as it's never enforced..Interesting to see if that monk survives and is then charged with animal cruelty..that would be good.

I think the King wanted it brought in?? that's what I was told anyhow...good man.

    Electric goad?

Knew a bloke in UK tried this in horse racing. Wired a electric pig goad ,one spike to each of the spurs on his riding boots.First day he tried to use it it was raining. The electric went up one leg,ACROSS THE TOP to his other leg. Threw him right of his horse. Biggest laugh I have ever had!

The poor way that many animals are treated in Thailand would lead me to believe that the cruelty aspect of this was not at the forefront of this rider`s disqualification...more likely the bookies interests would be better served if someone else won.
