Mrs Ast translated her docs, then took them to the gong sun (sp) to be officially stamped. Not sure if its changed since then or not. With regards to your passport bit, I dont recall having to supply a certified copy of mine, but it was a while ago now.

I had a few queries that I couldnt get an answer for, and just emailed the embassy. I must say I was really supprised ay how well they dealt with my questions.

    Have you read this thread?

Obviously not. Go back and read it and see where you have gone wrong.

On this you could get a soliciter to sign that it's a true likeness or for free get someone of a certian position - I've known a copper for a long time in my home town and he will certify it for free with his signature on each page

anyone recent care to disagree? would like to know if I'm mistaken

Its an X ray then the cough up some phlegm test as far as I know. Im going to email the embassy to make sure then whack the stuff in a DHL to Thailand to try and get it done. I might be getting to the overthinking it stage instead of getting on with it.

National insurance number is as easy as calling up, getting the form sent, completing it and sending the marriage and visa evidence

    Nothing more complicated than that.

    I'll put it here aswell,

    1) I need to subject a certified copy of my passport, I'm in the UK; is it OK to knock on my local police officers door to sign rather than pay a solicitor? If, so how does the Police officer go about it?

    2) I have a direct debit to my Credit Card of 20 pounds a month, do I need to show in the VISA documentation my credit card statement - it's rather higher than I like and I'd rather not.

Other than that my current account is healthy and I regulary save after pay 200 pound a week after expenses. I also have an extremely secure job backed up by a letter from my employer. should be Ok right?

    3) My son is dual national with an UK passport currently in Thailand with his mother. I shouldn't have to prove no recourse to public funds for him or even put him on dependents travelling with my thai wife on the visa application form should I? He could be simply travelling with me. Of course all our proof of relationship evidence such as photos include him with us. I have accomodation for him and funds. How do I go about this?

It's only the wife applying for the visa, so surely I don't include him on the forms. I only have to prove there is enough accomodation for the wife around My son and I at home

    Thanks in advance, please help

Again no. Been said two or three times that it's changed.

Call up, send in copy of passport and visa, NI is issued.

    Simple as that.

I DID NOT provide a certified copy of my passport.

When she put the settlement visa in, she was in Bangkok on her own having returned from Korea.
She had copies of my contracts, bank statements in her name and mine, birth certificates, letters of accomodation etc. Nothing was certified, I only provided copies of bank statements, told them it wasn't possible to give originals as I was in Kimchistan.

If we are talking about getting an NI number here, i just phoned up said my wife was starting work next week (she wasn't) and needs a NI number, they sent me the form, filled it in and sent it back and the number was sent through in the post a few weeks later, this was Jan/Feb this year.

Pretty much anything you have to prove proof of relationship, finances, accommodation
I got my settlement visa for the wife last year. They are heavy on the strength of the relationship. They will want to see a load of documentation to prove it.
I had to submit e mails, bank drafts, loads of photos, phone records, even photos of me in her village with the village name in the background.
They will want to see that you have suitable accommodation in the UK and they will require proof that you have enough income to support yourselves. If your struggling to provide these it might be easier to get the 6 month visa then apply for the 2 year when you have all your documentation together.

As someone else said she cant work legally on a 6 month visa. She can work with a 2 year settlement visa no problem.

Did you reside with you wife in Thailand for any number of years? Or was it mostly an long distant relationship?

I think Dr Andy may have done his NI number back when they had gas lit street lamps.

So that is you, me, Nick A who have all called and got one.
