Newbie: 90 day stay in Thailand and no visa!

Hi everyone.. This is my first thread. I am very grateful that I found this forum. If possible, I would like to know how to get a visa since I recently bought a 90 day round trip ticket- US to Bangkok? Can anyone direct me to a related thread? I haven't seen any posts that seem to relate to my situation. I plan to go there for a holiday departing on Dec. 31.

    Thanks!

Easy do two Visa runs across any border, I would guess
Or do a 30 day torist visa then get a extension 14 day then a visa run then another 14 day extentision and pay two day over stay

Will need to get visa from Thai Embassy in US. Tourist visa would be your best bet. You will get 60 day visa but can extend here in Thailand.

I believe that the 60 day tourist visa is free at the moment, so that's nice

Should this post not be transferred to the Newbie section?

The girl said Hi to all so it dose fit, besides some mod has already started deleting posts that would normally stand.

    Thank you for you help!!
Since I have my ticket and it a 90 day stay, what do you think I should do?
Should I show up in Bangkok with a round trip ticket to another country to extend my stay or would I be able to just make the visa runs to extend my visa? My main worry is that I will show up in Bangkok and not be let in to the country with my 90 day ticket!

If you just turn up, you don't get a visa. You get an entry stamp in your passport that allows you in for 30 days.

If you apply for a Tourist Visa in your country of residence (or anywhere outside Thailand), you'll get one of these in your passport before you get here:

This will allow you to stay 60 days, and you can extend that by another 30 days at an Immigration Office. Actually, Norton already said this above.
The sleep of reason brings forth monsters.

read all of the above posts slowly and carefully, then decide what you do not understand

you must get your tourist visa before you go to Thailand, if you want to stay 90 days

you will get a 60 day tourist visa; this can be extended inside the country at an immigration office

if you do not get a visa before you arrive, they will give you a stamp that allows you to stay 30 days max.. Doing visa runs will allow you to stay an extra 15 days at a time, just not worth the hassle and expense
    I have reported your post

    hi

There's plenty of quick and easy visa runs which would allow you to see other countries bordering Thailand as well as getting another 30 day tourist visa

Border crossings you now only get 15 days visa exemption stamp, tourist visas for most nationals have to be applied for at a Thai embassy or consulate and give you 60 days, if your not sure on a subject it's best not to post and cause confusion.

The 60 day Tourist visa, as previously pointed out, free until March '10, is the best way to go. This visa can then be extended for a further 30 days whilst in-country, though I believe this has to be done prior to only 21 of the original 60 days remaining.

Best to get a multiple Visa entry when you send your passport to the nearest Thai consulate. It's free. Then you can extend it for 30 days after your 60 days are up.
This is my actual experience, not some information given a a tour agent in the US, or drunk in a bar.
I went to Immigration yesterday here in Chiang Mai and they confirmed what I was already told. My Visa is a multiple entry visa. I can extend my Visa for 30 days by paying US $50, but why should I do that when I can go to Vientiane for a week, use the $50 for the train trip and get a another 60 days Visa? And, I get to play tourist in Vientiane for a week.
When I went to Immigration, I met a couple who were shocked to learn that they had to leave Thailand to get a Visa. They were told by their idiot travel agent in the US, that the best thing to do was get a 30-day on arrival. BIG MISTAKE.

A single entry tourist visa is free. A multiple is charged for at some consulates.

You can extend your Permission to Stay.
Your visa expiration date cannot be extended.

Did you figure in the $30.00 it will cost for the 14 days visa into Laos? so that only leaves you $20 for a weeks stay at $15 a day for a hotel in Vientaine and the train ticket and grub. And on top of that you had to pay for your multi-entry.

I would just get a tourist visa before I left home, go to immig here and get the 30 days extension and ,Bobs your uncle..
