    Dropbox

This has been mentioned in another thread but as its for Mac/Win/Linux Im posting it in a new one, the main reason is if you use this link

Which you now need to PM me for

We both get an extra 250mb of storage space

As Im inviting people I can get an extra 1gig of free storage (250mb for each person) but you'll have to invite people to take your own from 2(.25?)gig to 3gig.

Its free and very useful for syncing files over multiple computers, has an iPhone app and you can share stuff very easily with friends /mates/whoever. Its very simple to use, it creates a Dropbox folder on your computer and aything that gets put in it is automatically uploaded to your storage and synced with any other computers you instal Dropbox on.

Actually I got 2.5, while going through the setup process I got 250M for using your link and another 250M for going through 5 of the 6 steps in setting up the account and sending an invite to my wife.

Just FYI (but I am sure you know already) a confirmation email is sent that reveals your account name:

    Hi XXXXX,

Thanks for registering for Dropbox. For accepting XXXXXX XXXXXXXXXX's invitation, we've awarded you 250 MB of bonus space. You now have a total of 2.25 GB on Dropbox!

    Thanks again!

(redacted by me for privacy, count the Xs to confirm)

Anyway, many thanks again, this is going to be a lot more handy than mucking about with rsync and no-ip.com and punching holes through firewalls or gmailing myself stuff all the time.

No worries, glad I could give a heads-up.

Do you know how frequently it checks the dropbox folder on a machine to see if anything has changed and if the polling interval can be changed?

I think as soon as something is added to a folder it syncs, might have the answer here
