From an email I got today...

    Hi everybody,

    NOTICE:
Teachers working at UDRU and foreigners living in Udon Thani province can no longer use Nong Khai Immigration Office for visa extensions or 90 days reports.

A new Immigration Office for Udon Thani Province has been established at Udon Thani Police Station (the old building). The new office is open and you have to use that instead!

I went to NK Immigration today and that's how I got the information first hand, so it's not a rumour or some suspect third hand information.
    And then....

    Hello again everybody,

This is a follow up to my email which I broadcast after request from Nong Khai Immigration Office yesterday.

Several people have since, yesterday and today, tried to locate this new Office at Udon Police Station (on Srisuk Road) without luck. Approached police officers at the station reject any knowledge of such office.

A little upset being used as a tool to obviously misinform my fellow foreigners I have today been in contact with both NKI and Udon Thani Police.

NKI have repeated following claim today (both in Thai and English):
    • There IS established a new Immigration Office at the Police Station in Udon Thani.
    • The office OPENED officially yesterday, SEPTEMBER 08, 2009.
    • Foreigners living in Udon Province MUST use this new office, they CAN NOT be serviced at NKI in the future.
A high ranking Police Officer at Udon Thani Police Station claims following today :
    • It is correct that a new Immigration Office IS GOING TO OPEN at Udon Thani Police Station in unknown future.
    • QUOTE: "We don't know when it will open. We haven't even received the desks yet". /QUOTE
My wife informed this Police Officer about NKI's statement - he just smiled. I requested him to call NKI and talk with them to get things clarified. He rejected this.

We then informed NKI about Udon Police's statement. They still stick to their claim. I asked them to call UP to get things clarified. This was neglected.

This is all I know. This is how I have been informed by respectively NKI and UP today. My suggestion is as follows: When you have to do your visa or 90 days thing next time call NKI first (in Thai) and get clarified where to go - to them or the obviously non-existing office at Udon Police Station.
    Bunch of fucking idiots.

    Question

Difficult to get anyone to give exact/any details, but was told that if the new Imm.,office building was not yet ready, they would temporarily be housed in the
main Police station of that town.

If you are brave and patience then ring the BKK immigration office 022873101
and try and get the right dept.,

Best of luck, sorry unable to be more helpful at the moment.

Oh My Goodness Chaos Still Reigns.

Just returned from a visa run [Thurs 1/10/09] to the new visa office at Amnat Charoen. When we finally found the main Police Station and my better half spent
20 minutes speaking to many many people with a lot of head scratching we
eventually found someone who knew where the new immigration should be.Which
,when inquiring with the people there were told that the immigration team are
behind schedule and that now they would be moving the office on Sunday 4th Oct.
to commence business on Monday 5 th Oct.2009.
Therefore ,they told us that we would have to make the journey to Mukdahan
instead.[ extra 180 k round trip.]
So we continued our extended journey in the bl---y pouring rain to Mukdahan
where upon arrival we were treated most graciously and with utmost courtesy
I almost felt welcome again in the LOS.
But to get a 90 day visa after arriving in BKK in July and another re-entry permit
it only took 10 minutes from start to finish!!!!!!!! and the newly acquired cheesy GRIN
    was permanent the whole time.
Before leaving we asked when they would be moving to A.Caroen,he said
that the BKK office are yet to confirm.I also checked Mukdahan's phone number
[ 042 295461 ] saying I had been ringing for the past 2 days to save any wasted
journey[no answer], but all I got was a FRIENDLY shrug of his shoulders and the big cheesy grin.Any phone number for the Amnat Charoen office ........not yet.

LOCATION OF THE NEW 'SOON TO BE ' Amnat Charoen Immig., office.

Take the 202 road from Yasothon to Amnat Charoen and on arriving at A.C.
at the first major crossroads turn RIGHT [ clock tower and park on corner ]
continue down this road for about 500 m and the main Police station is on the right. When you enter you will see 3 large building and the immigration office
will be in the building in the right hand corner.

Amnat Charoen Imm., Office Now Open.

The Amnat Charoen immigration office is now open for business, but they are saying
that you go to the office for the 90 extension because they say too many farangs
say they have posted it which they claim were never received.

Assuming you mean the 90 address check, the checks in the mail.

I have concluded during this time of reorganizing the Immigration offices, I will risk the chance of the 2,000 baht fine and wait until I know for sure which of the many possible shells the pea is under. In the end will be cheaper than burning up the petrol doing the Tour de Isaan in a futile search for the "right" immigration office.

Have spent two weeks in Yasothon over Chinese New Year, I can say that the Amnat Immigration office is open.

Brother-in-law of friend did his annual retirement visa there two weeks ago. Office is up and running for all services, demand appearance for 90 day renewals though. Took several hours to get his yearly though. Seems once they have all the paperwork etc. they email it to Nong Khai for approval. Don't know if this is going to be the ongoing practice or not. Could be just to be sure the new office is following procedures.??????

But, the office is open and operating.
