    Air Asia & unnecessary stress!

First of all I apologise if I'm posting in the wrong place - I have a mini rant I want to get off my chest. Feel free to say where I should've posted if this is wrong.

So the story goes I wake up this morning & switch on my mobile phone which beeps at me to announce an SMS from Thai Air Asia. I had a flight booked from BKK to Surat Thani on 27/12/09 at 14:20hrs, their message was now telling me it had changed to 18:30hrs. This would be no good for me as I'd arrive too late to get the last "normal" ferry to Koh Samui, & I've prepaid my accommodation in Samui for that night.

So I had to wait until 15:00hrs NZ time for Air Asia to open, (9:00 Thai) all the while running through what changes I could make to my trip that were acceptable to me.

Anyway in the end there's no problem. They just switched me to another flight which leaves at 14:20 same same as before. Didn't stop me stressing though until I received their email confirming the change.

So why the feck didn't they leave me on a 14:20 flight?

I have known Air Asia to pull that on many people that I know. Go make a faramg style screaming scene in the airport and don't let up. They WILL pay your way on another airline...if you don't back down.

because they were hoping that the change would be acceptable to you, and it would cost them less than changing you to another flight

Travelling is like that, things are not always easy

It always amazes me to hear people moaning about flight timings, or even buses and trains being delayed etc

things happen, that is part of travel
    I have reported your post

I agree; that's why I booked a flight that is due to arrive at 3.35pm. If all goes well I hope to get the 5pm ferry, if not there's a 6pm & 7pm also.

I've only used AirAsia in Los. BKK - Chiang Rai. Probably 2-4 times every couple of months.

They've been pretty good all round.

They did the same to me and changed my flight to a later cheaper one. I asked for a refund of the difference and they said company policy they no pay. I said if I use my credit card to pay for a rolex watch but they bill send me a timex, it would be a criminal act in a civilised country. that didn't work.

I have flown with them about 10 times in the last year

the biggest delay was half an hour, most were on time

now, if you want to talk about Easyjet, they are crap by comparison

Serves you right for being cheap. If you flew with Bangkok or Thai Airways directly to Samui you would not need to worry about ferries missed.

Cool! I've made a massive 13 posts (before this one) & some twat decides he knows me well enough to call me & or my actions cheap. Or are you calling everyone else who uses Air Asia cheap too?
Ever heard of a budget Fabian? Why don't you see how many baht you get for the $NZ. Not as many as you get for Euros is it? Budget's not the only reason for choosing Air Asia, but you in your wisdom have probably decided otherwise.

yea, air asia sort of sucks, but I keep using them because of the cost. I don't think one flight has been on time, and in Thailand they totally ignore the fact that I have paid extra to board the airplane first and not deal with the mob. They just load all at once (likely because they are late at that point and trying to rush!).

They did cancel one flight on me where the put me on a more expensive flight at no extra charge.....

But all in all....cant beat the cost (or the hot stewardeses!)
