I pay 6,000baht per month for a 5 or 6 story shophouse, that doesn't mean the rents around me are similar, my neighbours pay between 14,000 and 25,000baht per month, so knowing one person at 6,000baht per month doesn't really mean anything.

well yes it does, what you are saying is that it is available, make up your mind.
No I'm not, can you read?Originally Posted by MeMock

Better then you obviously.
There are not shophouses within 1km of me available for 6,000baht per month, does that answer your question on your lack of basic English skills?

ahhh but if you are paying that price then there is a good chance that there just might be one available yes?

Respectfully Disagree. Staying anywhere in Patters spells disaster. As it is too noisey and the slicky boys are every where. Neither Sattahip or any where in Rayong Prov is so remote that you can't get the Western things you need. Plenty of Westerners around. I'm one of them. It is more quiet and layed back in Rayong Prov than in Patters. Depends on what your looking for.
"Don't Sweat the Small Stuff....and it is all small stuff"

See what I mean DD, KW and travelmate?
SEA Traveler disagrees but at least goes on to offer an opinion as to why he does not agree.

36 is the quick route from Rayong to Patters. and if one only needs to get to Patters 2 times a month or so, why put up with the aggrivation of what Patters offers?
Yup, Sattahip and Rayong Prov are bot less expensive than Patters and Bang Sari. Nice swimmable beaches in Sattahip and Rayong. Not like Pattgers.

Developing area in Satahip and Rayong and all in between. Plenty of excellent housing developments with Western ammenities. Plenty of Westerners as I live in that general area and have some first hand insight. Less congested than in Patters and somewhat more affordable. With POV or own motor bike no need for baht buses. Suggest trying out what you think is for you. Make no commitments until you have had the opportunity to give it a try 1st hand.

^^ So you have door knocked everyone have you?

What works for one person may not work for another. I personally don't care for the hustle and bustle of Patters nor do I particularly need the in your face night life environment in Patters. I do however see how it would be apealing to some so I am not judging those who frequent the scene. Me, I want swimable beaches nearby, less traffic and congestion, privacy and more county type environment, access to Patters and all the Western amenities that it offers when I choose to go there, and a more simple life style. Rayong Prov offers that for me.... But it isn't for everyone. I know that and respect that. What works for one may not work for another.
Memock, Pattaya and Jomtien aint bumfuk Ubon Rachet, the cheapest shophouses available near me at the moment are 18,000baht per month if you take a years contract, they are single story units, ie 1 floor, the ground floor, no upstairs, no stairs, 200 meters from me the 4 story shop houses have in the past year got a rent reduction to 32,000baht per month per unit, this has been reduced from 38,000baht per month, you generally can't rent buildings that have a value of 4 to 7 million baht each for 6,000baht per month anywhere in the world.

re sae traveller
you are correct .
The places are more diversed then what I said.
But although, the shady parts of Pattaya makes me feel at home.
I like the crazy buzz and I seldom feel alone, even when staying alone.
And while away I always miss the city
but off course, there are thornes on even urban roses,,,,he he
Agrees with buddy SEA T. about the area and also about the Mapthaput immigration. Never had any problems with them.
A 90 days takes about 5 min. and my last yearly extension, including a 90 days and the register of my new passport was a 'longish' 35 min. job.

Banchang isn't that polluted.....yet.
If you turn right off the main drag, as you come from Rayong , and go up the hill a bit it's quite nice. Air/pollution wise. Turn left and go down to the beaches and they're OK.
Rayong is as booring as the grave, and suffers far more from the Mataphut pollution.
IMHO of course.....![]()
thanks for all the info. I like the sound of the immigration office at mataphut. I think I might have a place sorted in Pattaya, a/c, internet and whatever else under 6000 theb per month, and depending on how long term can be cheaper than what I have been given. don't know until I see it, maybe it's the pits!
