Funny you should say that. I read an article that a university in the north of England ( forget which ) did a study and concluded that lazy people live longer than more active types. They could give no scientific explanation for their results except to say that it seemed that we are a bit like clockwork machines in as much as that increased activity causes us to unwind quicker.

As for milkman I can only say I feel the same. You didn't mention your age so its hard to say but as you get older you just can't carry on at the same pace. I find the less I do from day to day, the less I can do from day to day. The heat doesn't help much either. I usually feel a lot more active on my annual trips home to the U.K.
    I'm 39.

    And, very lazy.

I started eating smoked salmon 3 to 5 times a week and taking Omega 3. I feel it has helped my mind.

I also am doing a ton more reading than I used to - 5 to 6 books a week. I am trying to up my Thai language practice as well.

All of it combined has helped me to improve my mental abilities.

You need to develop a different mental attitude of positive thinking. Think young and your mind will be young. Wake up and "act as if" - act as if the day is going to be the best of your life. Act as if you have energy. Spring out of bed with energy and excitement.

Force yourself to do these things and they will become routine. Your mind is powerful and your body will realize results.

Believe it or not, it works.
    Thanks for that, Chitown.

Great post on the positive thinking and think young, attitude.

    I agree completely.

I used to take fish oil, but ran out.

Try going dry for a month or so and eating lots of fresh veggies, no crap like Coke or Pepsi and forcing yourself into a proper sleeping pattern that doesn't change (even at the weekend).
I don't drink soda, thank heavens.

I hear you on the proper sleep pattern. I keep the same sleep patter 7 days per week, for the most part.

But hours of sleep required vary from individual to individual. Some people need only 4 hours sleep to be totally refreshed and others need up to 10. I am in the average bracket and need around 8. One of the common things that can really mess around with quality sleep is "sleep apnea". Quite common in overweight middle aged males, especially heavy drinkers.
    Translation: fat, ol' drunk.

Just one of many possibilities worth looking at.
    I'll check it out.

    I don't think I easily doze off.

Lately I have been feeling tired, earlier in the evening.

This is why I started the thread.

Maybe it's because I'm nearing 40. But I suspect my stopping of activity is linked to it, and also a lack of a well-rounded diet at the moment.
Margaret Thatcher used to get by on 3-4 hrs sleep a night. She does not know who she is now:lost it completely.Just go for about 8 hrs with a Zizz at lunch time.

You can buy vitamins in bulk and have them sent here. I just had 1000 Omega 3's sent in March along with an assortment of other vitamins.

Not much for comic books, but funny it was the 1st thing that popped into your baby mind!! Unlike yourself, I actually have time to read. While you are TELFing, I am lounging by the pool reading, or sitting in a Starbucks with a book and am often reading at home. The books I read are over your head, so I won't embarrass you by posting some of them.raycarey says "Let's teach!!!!!!"

I did that once. Fell down and couldn't get up.

Now I slowly walk to the kitchen. Drink a couple litres of good strong coffee and I'm good to go for the day.
Mrs. Chi brings me a cup of Suzuki prior to my springing!!

Normally I wake up, she brings me my coffee and I read a book while sipping it.

Shit I thought I was reading about an old fok like me...get off your arse and do a little exercise, drink lots of water and if you can find it good green tea, loose tea not the little bag shit, coffee is not good for you. I have a bottle of red wine most nights, two after a day of stress but the tea cleans out all the crap and lets my body get back to work.

    Human Water Requirement Calculator

The average person needs 2 to 3 liters of water a day in a warm/hot environment. More if you exercise or do physical work.

Under hydration can lead to kidney problems, hypertension and a whole lot of other associated problems.

Thanks to all for the comments.

As for water, I drink at least 4.5 liters per day, in large part to ward off gout, which I have been able to do so b/c of this water intake and also some great advice (thank you, kmart) on using 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in the AM & PM to alkalize my blood.

Today, I went for a walk.

    It's a start.

Thanks for the replies. I am reading every single one of them.

If you're feeling that way, try and find products that contain inulin and oligofructose. Olg is a good substitute for suger and is good for energy. Both inulin and OLG are are very good for the body in other ways too.

I like the way almost everyone has rallied to support Milkman's problem. Even though we bicker at one another, we can still be humane when helping a fellow in need.

A good blood work up might show what is going on. Not too expensive and done at most any large hospital.

    Not depressed, though.

Serious. In good mood. Things are good, all-around.

I think I just am bored by doing the same thing for so long.

But now is not a good time to change (economy).
