    Weather Sat for SEA

Satellite for SEA. This is updating from the net so what you see, should be a pic of the present.

So that's why we are getting so much rain in Isaan with more to come. Good info.

What's the trajectory after landfall over VN? Issan for sure, I guess. Will it make it as far as Central Thailand?

Looks pretty darn menacing. Seems to be going west but BBC was saying southern China this morning; the remnants usually end up in Northeastern Thailand a lot fo the time. This time it looks like Vietnam is going to get a good washing down.

Ketsana will make typhoon strength, maybe category 2, before landfall. It will still be a rapidly dissipating tropical depression by the time it arrives in Isaan. This according to the JTWC. I'd expect a buttload of rain. It has unusually high cloud tops over a large area (which caused the flooding in the Philippines). I've been watching its development over the last week.

Tropical depression 18 and another (likely to be tropical depression 19) are heading towards the Philippines now. Tropical depression 18 is highly likely to be at typhoon strength before it makes landfall there.

The end result is, I'd expect the Philippines to have more serious flooding...and north eastern Thailand is odds on to experience at least 2 more bouts of unpleasant torrential periods of prolonged rainfall. Lots of flooding over the next 10 days or so is very likely....and there's still quite a while until things should start to calm down. This can all change of course.

Latest is Ketsana is now a typhoon and just off the Vietnam coast. Will achieve cat 2 before landfall I think.

The projected track is the same. Isaan should experience a remnant low/tropical depression. It wont be as windy, but such events can still produce a lot of rain. On a positive note, as an eye wall has formed, some of the intense far reaching cloud mass has lessened.

Tropical depression 18 looks like it will hit the Philippines as a typhoon. The newly formed tropical depression 19 looks to be tracking north at the moment, avoiding land. This could of course change, they are near each other and may interact to a degree.

It's rather cool and a little windy in Bangkok. I think Samui will get more rain than here, a large band of clouds headed into the gulf earlier. Looks like Isaan got a fair bit of rain though.

Ketsana has all but dissipated, the JTWC has issued its final warning.

Going to be cloudy and wet tomorrow, but the worst has passed.

Steady rain here in Roiet for the last 12 hours. Not much wind. Rain is steady but not super heavy yet. Expect heavier rain in late afternoon and this evening if the Typhoon continues on it's current path.

So from what I've just seen on the map, does it mean that its now only a Tropical Storm that's going to skim past Bangkok?

    ^ 2 sandbags

normally after they calm down to a tropical rain depression they dump a shitload over a wide area.

is the rain coming to BKK ?

Rain in Bangkok, not a lot, but steady.

The circulation centre of the now dissipated typhoon emerged into the gulf of Thailand this evening. It is still rotating but disorganised. Unlikely to regain strength but you never know. It seems Vietnam took the brunt, but it rapidly lost strength. By the time Isaan got it, the high clouds had gone and it doesn't appear to have been as bad as some suggested.

Update, in BKK it has been raining non-stop for around 6 hours. Prettily heavily at times too. Not heavy enough for floods here, but maybe elsewhere.
