I know this is an old thread, but I am thinking of building an EarthBag house.
Basically Cob, but using bags so no messing about making bricks etc. There are nice plans, which I can't link because of the stupid restriction of the boards till I post more replies. But I am stuck on how to make the roof. What to use. Can you get slate for roofing in thailand?

How do I get back to the UK every year or so for a new visa and not burn any of our precious oil. Are they going to invent solar planes?

I think the bottom line is you're not going to save money. If you've been duped over global warming and must insist on having a global friendly, erm climate friendly home, and cost isn't an issue, why not just spend on solar panels. You can also use 'eco blue' water systems which general pure water from the atmosphere.
You bullied, you laughed, you lied, you lost!

I recently completed construction of my own eco villa in Phuket. I'm new here so cannot post a link to the website but do contact me if you're interested. Some of the many eco concepts incorporated into the design as follows:

    Passive cooling
    Rainwater harvesting
Recycled hardwoods and floor to ceiling bamboo poles
    Grass roofs
    Site orientation
    Salt and chlorine free pool
    LED lighting

No not looking for work. But during this project I quickly realized how little expertise there is in Phuket of sustainable building practices.
