OK, we have designs from Danblack, Humbert, Mooncake, Nawty, Norton and Splitlid. As usual, we have a ringer who will probably never post again once the competition has finished, but that's what happens when you don't get the rules sorted properly.

You can catch all the design action here (design competition), but below are the basic designs from each contestant as a reminder.

NORTON.

Price approx 2.3M baht. Size approx 300 m2. 3 bedroom, 3 bath.




HUMBERT

Open plan with all rooms opening onto central courtyard with pool and garden.
230 cm height glass sliding doors open to courtyard.
Great room
Professional kitchen with bar
Dining area
Maid quarters (or bedroom)
Exercise room (or bedroom)
3 baths
Laundry room
Master bedroom suite
2 guest bedrooms
Car port
Swimming pool
Wood decks

Interior area: 310 square meters
Construction cost: 10 million




NAWTY

Ground Level….carport on bottom right, enter house via large floating limestone steps over water. Carport big enough for 1 car and bike and maybe storage at rear. Outside toilet accessed from floating path, can also be accessed from inside via a door where the book/storage shelves are located on right side. Located outside gives shitting privacy when you have visitors, smells outside and plumbing is incorporated with above bathroom saving dosh. Enter into area beside kitchen, then enter huge open expanse, up to 6m ceiling above living and dining areas. All glass front with folding doors or mossie wire with shutters only. Centre spiral floating wood staircase up to master bedroom loft. Stone floor. Large wooden dining table. Mixture of large wooden posts, redwood at heights of 3m and 6m above ground. Large wooden centre beam. All exposed and natural finish. Living and dining areas open onto small deck with 2 or 3 steps down to main deck. This allows better viewing from the inside lounge. Deck and main living area opens in a ‘V’ shape to invite you outside and increase the viewing angle. Large wooden picnic table outside on deck with bbq on left. Spiral staircase down to bedrooms below. 2 bedrooms below built into the slope of the land, back and side bedroom walls can be very nice rock walls. Folding or sliding doors out onto patio under decking made of large limestone tiles. Shared bathroom for cost saving and as only intended for guests or family visits. Master bedroom/loft…..deck on the left side, bed to face the views and open onto the main living area but with lightweight folding doors for privacy when visitors around. Large built in closet to incorporate other storage areas. Bathroom half outside, privacy screen surrounding outside shower/bath….increase sex life. Toilet protected from outside view, but allows view of skyline while dumping…good for the system. Shingle roof, wooden rafters all exposed, waterproofing etc hidden with bamboo weave panels.




MOONCAKE

- Simple modern flare thai-style house w/ a typical thai-dutch roof
- Compact open floor plan,…3 beds + 3 bths, & 2 cars garage
- With separate kitchen/dinning for indoor/outdoor preference
- Kitchen & that 3rd bath can be totally closed off from dinning room - by simple doors addition, to reduce the aircon bill
- Enhance by dramatic middle covered breezeway w/ ceiling fan - for outdoor guests reception or - lounging around away from afternoon hot sun w/ open-close bifold doors
- Main home indoor living room & dinning room - have huge glass accordian doors open to adjoining breezeway.
- covered back view deck - away from rain and sun - for easy breezy entertainment & views enjoyment
- House sits on “pilings” to minimize construction cost - esp on the hillside like this - adjustable based on slope.

SPLITLID





DANBLACK

I was going for economy. I think this house could be built for well under 2m. It has comfortable sized rooms on only a 100m footprint. What is also not shown, is there is a 2nd floor over the bedrooms with a railing in front so you can look down into the livingroom.

Unless someone was using another nic I cannot fathom the reason for any kind of punishment.
The competition rules and requirements were loose, constantly evolving and all in fun anyway.

Norton, that's exactly what I'm building for my olds. It's simple and cute.

Neat thread and i was almost taken in by mooncake and the fancy grappics but Humbert ticks all the boxes for me.

Nawty, is there anywhere designated for self administered medical procedures?

Simple and cute are always what one needs to consider. Simple especially if the house is up country. Also, availability of locally sourced materials.

Mooncakes is very standard and boring but.

But she can draw nice and this adds to the lack of any wow factors.

I like Humbert's and splitlid's designs equally but for completely different reasons. Having trouble voting.

so is mine and designed in mind for the couple requiring it and the location....so there....

This is the full price as depicted in the drawing. Includes all kitchen cabinets, appliances, and furniture.

Know the price for sure as I kept detailed records as the house was built.

I like well designed minimalism, so i voted splitlid. For construction to budget I'd have to go with Norty though- eminently livable. Pity theres not two Polls.

Damn....Mooney voted for herself...that sucks.

Glad i waited, was going to vote for her.....cannot now.

This deserves an on air debate with presentations and explanations. Might level the playing fioeld a bit.

Well I was just playing and wanted to see if the poll works properly or not,...so null my vote

Humbert's seems to have the wishlist filled.

Nawtys concept is good. Don't matter about the drawing or manipulating of software.

I like Moonpie's solution. I'll give her a bowl of rice per day to design my house if I ever construct one.
