So the beer thing didn't end it, eh?
Black cop in Gates arrest sends letter to Obama about being called an “Uncle Tom”.
Jesse Jackson: "There is nothing more painful to me at this stage in my life than to walk down the street and hear footsteps and start thinking about robbery -- then look around and see somebody white and feel relieved." There ARE important racial differences.

^ 555 Actually, the vid missed two other Fox shows on this, one which interviewed a black lawyer who was a homocide cop for many years -- he said Crowley had every right to cuff the guy; another, which the left would lap up and made me roll my eyes, was that Italian judge anchor, who said Crowley did NOT have reason to go into the house at all.
First Amendment rights allow folks to hurl verbal insults and slurs at police? Hmmm. Would dispute that, even if this youtube guy purports to be a lawyer (how do we know?).
That npr black chick talking about how her brothers were coached to do whatever police totld them is just racial stirring. My folks told me the same thing -- ie, never sass anyone in authority, especially police. Always show them respect.
So, if the police did not respond to that 911 call, or just said "OK" when Crowley said he lived there, that's not doing their job. Why have 911 otherwise?
I still believe Obama was way in the wrong for saying what he did, and he still owes the country an apology for stirring up sh*t.

Yes, kind of agree. Would never bow my head though. Here you can reason and argue with them, but you'd better shut it, when they put on the" Copperface", or you probaly get arrested.Originally Posted by Jet Gorgon

Black cop in Gates arrest sends letter to Obama about being called an “Uncle Tom”.A black sergeant who was at the home of Harvard scholar Henry Louis Gates Jr. when he was arrested says he’s been maligned as an “Uncle Tom” for supporting the actions of the white arresting officer.
Cambridge Sgt. Leon Lashley gave a letter to Sgt. James Crowley to give to President Barack Obama during their so-called beer summit with Gates on Thursday night at the White House.
In the letter, which was also sent to CNN, Lashley says Gates “may have caused grave and potentially irreparable harm to the struggle for racial harmony.”![]()

errr....great maudib....but what does your article (from some blog called, "hotair.com") have to do with my post that you quoted?
and btw, it's interesting how none of the usual suspects want to talk about the lies crowley put in the police report. and after listening to crowley's press conference (he's turning into quite the media whore, isn't he?) it seems he anxious for this entire episode to go away too.
i hope the lying cop scum is brought up on charges.

Grrr. This is why so many people are thick. Just had an argument with a neighbour over this issue. She watched one news program and believed every word on the news that the black professor was being attacked by the bad white policeman. Fek, no wonder Canada and America are going down the tubes.
why doesn't anyone want to talk about the lies crowley wrote in his police report?
and dollars to donuts (throwing that one out for the knee jerk cop apologists here on TD), that's why the cambridge police department dropped the charges.

Crowley, after having verified Gates as owner of the house should have use his discretion and just left.
President Obama should not have commented on the situation during a news conference.
Right and left pundits elevated the situation to ridiculous levels.
Obama sought to diffuse the situation and get the parties together and hopefully elevate the discussion to a higher level.
Maybe we have heard enough on this.
Good and fair summary.
Odd that you don't see the irony and humor of my post... You raving that the police lied on their police reports and then a black policeman on the scene verifies that Gates made belligerent, racial comments and that the arrest was justified...
Ok Ray, here's Sgt Lashley's in an interview with CNN...
Here's the same story from another 'more reliable' source...
Sgt Leon Lashley Speaks Out About Professor Gates | The Minority Report
Sgt Leon Lashley, sometimes known as "the black cop" from the encounter between Professor "Skip" Gates and Sgt Crowley, let it be known that in his opinion, Professor Gates was in the wrong, and that he had set back race relations in this country.
Google is your friend...
Give a man a match, and he'll be warm for a minute, but set him on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.
so predictable.
attempt to distract from crowley lying by injecting even more race into the issue.
and who cares what another cop says? i'm supposed to believe him because he's black? isn't this exactly the sort of thing you and your ilk get your panties in a twist about?
crowley lied. end of story.
and that's likely why the cambridge police dropped the charges.
btw, what's up with crowley putting a slice of orange into his beer?

Unfortunately Obama was the one who elevated the incident "to rediculious levels" by making a silly public comment condeming Sgt. Crowley when he didnt know the full facts.
If Obama had just stayed out of it, instead of jumping in to defend a friend on racial grounds, it would never have hit the international media and become such a big story. And certainly Obama wouldn't be enthralled in the drama and having to play the independent mediator bringing the parties together for a beer at the Whitehouse.

^ True. Mebbe a diversion from other stuff that he's losing confidence on. The whole press conference where this issue was raised was staged, as was the last Q about this issue -- "oh, time for one last Q". If that wasn't staged as well, call me Bambi.
Obama has got to feel embarrassed by this. He overreacted ... he was wrong and he knows it. What a piddly assed thing for a US President to be getting involved in. Kinda makes me wonder now if he was telling the truth about how much he payed attention to Rev Wright's sermons.
The cop made a righteous bust of a citizen acting in a belligerent manner.

A Filipino neighbour was talking about this and she said the cop lied and totally jumped in the black man's camp. I asked her how she knew, and she said she saw it on TV...
Link please...
You put a slice of orange in Blue Moon and sometimes Fat Tire beer as the citrus improves the flavor... Much as you put a slice of lime in Corona... Shows at least that Crowley has some taste and doesn't drink the swill known as Budweiser...
