| Sorry to hear of your loss Bung. As a dog lover and owner myself I know how heart breaking it can be to lose a much loved family member.
However if I am reading this right your dog was killing the neighbours chickens?
Having grown up in a farming area I know that once a dog becomes a chook killer it has to be disposed of because you can never trust it not to kill again. And Thai animal husbandry practices are the same. Thai dogs dont kill chickens or ducks, because if they do, they dont get a second chance.
Although poisoning your dogs is a deplorable and inhumane method of solving the problem, that kind of mindset is most unlikely to change.
Confronting your neighbour will only build resentment, and that could go against your new pup somewhere down the line. Building a a good fence to keep the chooks and dogs in their own separate territories is the only sensible way to go.
Dont let your grief and anger turn this into a neighbourly feud with your dog/s as the focal point, because if it goes that way your new dog is most likely to be one to suffer.
Good luck with it. |
