wouldn't be much left if Dorset was hit by a 6.6

CNN is reporting it at 7.8 that tsunami might arrive sooner than expected

They are giving tsunamai warnings for the east coast of Australia. Is that a bit over the top?

I was in Phuket (Patong beach), fast asleep in a ground floor room at a beach front hotel when the 'big one' hit.

From experience I can assure you that no warning is over the top, even if it is a false alarm.

Parents in law called this morning from Christchurch . . . they felt a tremble, nothing more in Cashmere.

still getting 5.1 after shocks in the deep south, just waiting for the news to see what sort of damage was done....landslips etc......

'Fraid not as we lost everything we had with us, the misses and I escaped to the roof of the building literally stark naked.

We just had a quake here in Thule last week, 6.1. center was 100 miles from here.
