For reasons that aren't important, I got off the tram at an earlier stop after work yesterday & thought I'd have a pint. I stumbled into this beer garden, which was quite pleasant. I like canal boats. The weather wasn't great though.

The web address on the back of the boat seemed unusual. A look at the name revealed more.

It is sponsored by the Prince's Trust & will be used for giving disadvantaged kids boat trips.

This guy was mooching up & down.

Nice one Nietzsche, it's The kings Ransom, nice pub it is as well.

These are from last October as well, it was going dark though, nights drawing in.

We have used this pub in the past, excellent location, nice food!

    You're right, Mathos, it's a great pub.

This is a block of flats they built after knocking-down the world-famous Hacienda nightclub.

    The Hacienda Apartments

Behind me is Deansgate Locks. A Row of bars built into the railway arches. Quite sophisto.

The canal is the same one from the other pictures.

That combination of sun & bars was tempting, so I made my way down the staircase.

    Ground level.

I soon got fed up paying nearly £4 a pint, so went off in search of something better.

This boozer is like the Tardis - five big rooms inside this little thing.

It's the Pevril of the Peak & I think it's the oldest pub in Manc that hasn't been blown-up & put back together again. The colours are shit in the photo, but it's covered in a strange green tile that you won't find anywhere else. Interesting pub.

    The landlord's a knobhead though.

The Great Northern Railway Company's Goods Warehouse. It has plenty of history, but I don't know nothing about it.

    It's a casino nowadays.

It's a nice one & not like most of the dumps in town. You'll often find Man U players in here, betting something ridiculous like £10,000 a time on roulette! Peanuts to them, I suppose.

Behind it is the Beetham Tower.

The bottom half is a Hilton hotel, the top is apartments - £1000 a month gets you a decent one.

When purchasers bought the flats (around £240,000 a throw) they were told they could have access to the hotel facilities, such as the gym & sauna, etc. That went out of the window though when they started renting their flats out at weekends to wasted party-goers from all over the country & they made a nuisance of themselves, pissing in the jacuzzi & what-have-you.

I think nowadays you can pick one up for just £100,000.

They would have to increase their offer and pay me twice that to live in an ants nest like that !

The floor jutting out is a bar with a glass floor. Very nice it is, too. I'd go up & take a photo, but at £6 for a bottle of beer, I'm afraid you're out.

That's the one. Took them about six months! I suspect the quality is dubious.

This is Shitman Heights - my gaff's at the rear of the building.

This is one of our our Crown Courts. An odd mix of old & new.

The big gate on the right is where they drive the villans in from Strangeways prison in the mornings.

It was back to town again yesterday. Weather was just as nice as last time & the crowds were just as heavy.

Piccadilly wasn't as packed as before.

Plod were present & I was well aware there would also be dozens more of them wearing plain clothes dotted around.

But I asked the guy on the mobile if he had any shit to sell anyway - he looked the sort

    He didn't.

There was a bit of a market on. I say a bit because it was a load of shite. Check these sorry-looking stalls out.

    Cheap as chips though.

    The bongo-boys were still around.

I bet this guy has an interesting story or two.

He had a bike with what looked like his home folded up on the back plus the two dogs.

Back on the High St, things were pretty much the same as before. The anti-BNP mob were about again.

I said we'll see if the BNP would clean up & they did.

    This photo is self-explanatory.

    Muppet.

    This bloke could really draw.

I don't think my poxy camera-phone does these paintings justice.

They are trialling ID cards in Manchester, with a view to rolling them out accross the country.

    Some people aren't happy.

    Mostly people don't care.

    St Peter's Square.

This being a slightly more upmarket part of town, the street traders actually sell good stuff.

This passageway has cast-iron umbrellas sheltering you from the rain. Seems like an expensive way to keep dry to me, but closer examination reveals concrete umbrellas on the wall, too.

There must be some historical significance behind it, but I've no idea what it might be.

The front of our town hall. Looks like Manchester's bidding for the World Cup according to the banner.

They were packing away after some kind of event & couldn't get a better shot.

Is that a Knight's Templar up there?

This is one of our librarys.

My phone really doesn't do justice to how beautiful this building is.

This notice is from 150 years ago!

It gives an amusing insight into library use by Mancunians of the day.

Stop nicking the papers & stop hogging the fireplace

    An innocent-enough looking notice.

Stuck on the gates of this building.

You'll never in a million years guess what it is.

    Find out here

    China Town.

    Not many Chinks around.

Behind the row of shops on the left is this alley & a knocking-shop.

People have asked in the past what I have against Romanians.

    I'll show you.

This fat bitch had a one year old baby on her knees, begging.

If this was Bangkok I'd chuck her a few Baht, but this slag & her greasy husband will be on a small fortune in benefits.

I went for a pint at the pub featured at the beginning of the thread. I shouldn't have bothered.

I decided to head for my usual bench in the park. I knew my seat would be empty.

Just around the corner were these lot - RSPB

They were inviting people to look into the telescopes. Curious, I went over for a butchers.

You can't see them, but they are at the top of this building - peregrine falcons!

They are a bit of a celebrity in Manchester. I looked through the telescope & they were beautiful birds.

Really made my day seeing them.

Something for everyone at the Birdcage nightclub!

I've been there once. Never again.

Eventually I got to the park. I didn't picture this guy last time I was here.

Some guy was performing to a crowd, right in front of my bench.

So I chilled on the grass with everyone else.

As night came, I met some pals & we went to Wetherspoons.

On the left is a nightclub & the right a casino. I spend many Saturday nights in all three.

There were plenty of people dressed up.

Looking at the guy on the right, I thought Jizzybloke had come up for a night out in Manc.

We finished off in the Pevril. I got a better shot of the green tiles.

Which brings us to the end of Shitman St - hope you enjoyed it!

Nietzsche (the real one) once said he wanted to say in ten sentences what most people would say in an entire book.

I'm going to go one better - a food review without words!

I went for a burger before heading home.

    Enough said.

    Viddy well, brothers!

    Viddy well.
