Thread: Building a cricket ground and clubhouses

Location, Indonesia. (sorry there is no building in Indo subforum, so I figured it was most relevant here).

Lets start with the concept pics...







It is a block owned by a long term expat and Rebels cricket club member. He has been fundraising like crazy and we've started obtaining all the necassary permits and so on.

Bulldozing for the field is due to start this week, may have already started.

The location is Bogor, about an hour or so south of Jakarta. We already have a strong youth development programme in bogor, and several teams playing against each other. Some of the kids have been picked for the national side, so we must be doing something right.

What does the place currently look like? There are some nets already up, and we were training there last week, before the skies opened and forced us out of the rain and into the Esky.

Most important thing you have to consider (and get right the first time) is the soil profile and sub soil drainage.

Quite true.

Its on a hillside, so we have been building up one side, and need to bulldoze the other to create a flat surface.

KW is that the clubhouse, through the trees,over the bridge down the hill???
as far from the pitch as possible?

Yep... about 30cm of course sand and perforated pipes every 2.5 - 3m laid in a gravel channel for the outfield is what you need with the intensity of rainfall in that part of the world.
Upside is that you should not have too much to spend on irrigation systems

I didn't and I have had contact with him recently as well. As long as he's ok.

Great project KW and teaching the local kids the best sport in the world.

Hope everything goes well for you and the best drainage kit for the entire playing surface (especially the pitch) would be the aussie developed "Atlantis Drainage Cell". This same system was installed at the Singapore Polo Club and now they can continue the game directly after a tropical storm. You should have a look at the product on their web site.

I know the Chairman personally and he may want to get involved and as promotion for his product in S.E Asia. If you like I can mention it too him and as a charitable gesture! Just PM me!

Marmer's I am waiting for some money to come in and spending my time finishing off THAT new design.

With the way the real estate business is at the moment a Rugby complex and field is probably the best and only option for that piece of land.

missed this from before, I think I did a thread on it, the Gintung disaster, unfortunately, it was only poor people hurt by that.

Oh, and the International sports club indonesia no longer have a lake (dam) to sail on.....

but anyway, the bulldozers have started work....

Sorry, I've been slack on this, but it is a good 2 hours out of Jakarta... in my defense.

Anyway, next month, we are playing a T20 game there on the 15th, I promise to bring my camera and post pics.

I visited and played at this ground now, it's not too bad. But still a bit rough in the outfield.

looks really good mate, i love the pic of the pitch before it had grass.looks like a tree stump.
you'd hate to have a big hitter in the opposition as the ball may be hard to recover.

actually now that you mention it, we've lost a large number of balls, for that very reason.

We've instituted a Six and Out rule....

We pay locals to get the balls, however, i think our rates are less than what they can resell them for so at this stage tis a useless endeavour...
