    Exactly.
While I am against the death penalty in principle, these aren't just 'smugglers' these are career criminals.
Nasty pieces of shit and who knows how many lives they have fucked up one way or another.
I imagine they somehow coerced at least some of the other people into smuggling for them.
    Fuck 'em. Hang em high.

Tony Abbott should be spending more time attending to Australia's serious and out of control drug problem instead of trying to challenge another country's legal laws.

I bet if he wasn't Prime Minister and trying to please the PC idiots he woud be like the rest of us law abiding citizens and not give a fvck about the drug courier's problem they caused themselves.

More waste of tax-payers money is all he is achieving.

Kill them, and may it serve as a lessons and save further people going there to export heroin.

May they also feel some of the pain that those trying to withdraw from the shit they were exporting feel.

"It has never been explained how a Thai woman named Cherry Likit Bannakorn twice managed to remain unnoticed as she delivered the heroin to Chan in the middle of a police surveillance operation instigated by the AFP."

Abbott and Bishop, probably ensured the penalty would not be commuted.
You don't tell Asians to back down, lose face by threatening them was tourist embargoes, cuts in aid or calling them barbarians in public.

If the Indo president had commuted the sentence, it would have look like he was following Abbott's orders.

'It was not a selfie moment': Australia launches official complaint after police chief is pictured SMILING as he poses with Bali drug kingpins during flight to 'Death Island'
    • Australia will lodge a complaint of their displeasure with the images
    • Peter Varghese likely to phone Indonesian ambassador to voice outrage

Shackled and handcuffed, Andrew Chan cut a sad figure as he was escorted by four faceless Indonesian police officers across the tarmac after being taken from Korobokan prison in Bali to their final destination, Death Island

Utter despair is etched on the face of condemned prisoner, Myuran Sukumaran, as he arrived at Cilacap airport in central Java, Indonesia, only 700km by plane but a world away from the comparative freedom of his art workshops inside Kerobokan prison on the island of Bali

Indonesia has rejected a last-ditch offer from Australia of a prisoner swap aimed at saving the lives of two Australian men on death row.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Arrmanatha Nasir told the BBC that Indonesia had no law to provide for such an exchange.

Earlier Australia's Foreign Minister Julie Bishop confirmed the swap offer was among options being explored.

Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumara, from the 'Bali Nine' drug-smuggling group, are due to be executed within days.

The men are due to be shot by firing squad.

A spokesman for Indonesia's attorney general said the execution date may be decided in a few days.

Ms Bishop had announced the offer to repatriate three Indonesian convicts in return for the two Australian men in a joint news conference with Prime Minister Tony Abbott.

    ^

Reading the Australian news print from afar has been quite disturbing.

They choose to make a massive story out of selfies with the accused but down play the accused actual crimes.

I get no jollies from seeing these two topped but at the same time can see why Indonesia is saying,

Fuk you Australia ". Mind your own Business.

Australia's foreign minister has offered a prisoner swap in a last-ditch attempt to save two Australian men on death row in Indonesia.

Julie Bishop said on Thursday she was waiting to hear back about the offer to repatriate three Indonesian convicts.

Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran were moved on Wednesday to a prison island where they are due to be executed.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott said he had requested another call to negotiate with Indonesian President Joko Widodo.

Ms Bishop confirmed that a prisoner swap was among the options being explored in a joint press conference with Mr Abbott on Thursday morning.

"What we are seeking to do is have an opportunity to talk about options that might be available in the area of prisoner transfer or prisoner swap," she said.

The offer was made to Ms Bishop's Indonesian counterpart Retno Marsudi, who "undertook to provide that information to the president", Ms Bishop said.

One would think that the Indonesian prisoners in Aussie jails might not fancy going back to Indonesia, given what might be waiting for them when they get back.
