    That's what I'm seeing.
Good! So try installing Adblock and setup that URL as one to be blocked! (Just specify "http://www...etc...pagead2*").

Get it here: mozdev.org - adblock: dev - at the bottom of the page, where it says "Adblock 0.5 d3 nightly 42 - installs for all versions of mozilla and firefox"

Trying to do that, but the linky on the adblock page doesn't work.

Well, once I added a filter for googlesyndication, the stalls stopped. Even my own pages with Google ads load faster now that I've blocked them.

But, I've not seen such extreme stalls over Google Ads anywhere but Teak Door.

Must look into this further when sober.

Sorry about that - I didn't check it.

OK, this one should work: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/10/

If you right-click on the "Install now" button, you should be able to save the file as "adblock-0.5.3.043-fx+fl+mz+ns.xpi"

This is the same as the version I am using. Good luck!

this is an issue though isn't it.

It's ok for me, I mean I'll wait all day cos I'm bloody hooked and rarely have anything better to do, but any new members will be less patient and might not log in a second time.

Yes, there have been days when I've got so pee'd off waiting - usually for "Post Preview" to appear - that I've done something else and come back after a few hours.

I'm happy to help find out if it is a TD problem - do tests, etc - if that's what it takes to find the cause of it.

But, again, it seems OK today for me.

The problem is in the way Google Ad Sense works. If you're using PHP to generate pages (the way this forum works) then the page has to get generated twice: once for Google to figure out what ads to place and then again when the HTML code gets sent to your browser. You can see this is happening because the Google ads relate to the content of the generated page.

One thing that could be done is to add a line like:

    google_page_url = http://teakdoor.com

in the adsense code. That would force Google to look only at the main TD page rather than the PHP generated HTML code. This would speed things up and also insure that the Google Ads were more relevant to the interests of TD members.

That said, doing this might violate the Google TOS...
