    Specific farming forum.

    Hi there.

I would like to know if there is any interest in a specific farming forum ??
A forum where questions and ideas can be shared, different ways of doing the same thing, feed cost, market, the whole nine yards.

I think this thread would be better off in another section.

Someone can move it where they deem appropriate.

    Happy Farming.

What about changing the forum description of the "Gardening in Thailand" forum to include farming?

To gather ideas about anything, the TD Lounge may not be a bad way to start.

Personally, I think the farming forum might work. How about a subforum in the gardening section?

On the other hand there will always be posters complaining about to many forums.

Sort of damned if you do and damned if you don't kinda of thing.

    Not a bad idea.

    Farming and Gardening in Thailand

This way TD avoids another subforum and yet people can peruse if they like.

A farming thread would be good. The ONLY thread I watch regularly on TV is the farming forum. Some very smart and helpful folks there including one of TD's respected members.

    E. G.

EDIT: check out the forum there, it is way too diversified to be included with gardening.

I agree 100%, the farming thread is the only one I look and post at in TV, and I'm confident that it will be a succes here on TD.

That's correct, more people tend to read TD Lounge, so it would be the right place to see if there is any interest in such a forum. To me gardening and farming is two very different things, so people may not realize that there exist a farming thread as well, if it is to be..

I think we should make El Gibbon move back to Chanthaburi and carry on with his living in the sticks thread

Change to "Farming and gardening in Thailand", then it should be like a seperate sub-forum otherwise it will be way to mixed-up.

    That sounds good.
I'd certainly participate in a farming forum, can't be arsed to log onto TV for it.
But are there people with knowledge and experience here?

i am quite sure there are, and if not, at least those who tried could share experiences so that others could benefit, possibly avoiding the pitfalls, etc.

I think quite a few of them will jump over here, the ones I email with are at the same opinion, they only use TV because of the farming forum, so I think that TD quickly will get up to speed with that...

The problem with a dedicated farming forum is that there is just not that much of a knowlage base and it's a bit of a niche market.
The forum was initialy my idea and I could probably of hosted it on one of 3 "Thai" forums. I decided to go to TV as at the time and probably now it had the biggest readership (DD will undoubtedly dissagree ) All I wanted from it was a sort of knowlage base for existing or prospective farmers or small holders as there is not much around on the net and most of the specific stuff is in Thai

We were always a bit short of "experts" and two of them were constatly arguing with each other, the few times I've logged on lately it seems to of slowed down a fair bit. I was more or less off-line for six months and I'm not sure if anyone was bothering to look after it. MaizeFarmer (the real expert) has'nt posted for some time which was a big loss.

I'm not a mod over there anymore and although I still feel a certian obligation to the forum, I'm way out of date with prices, not online enough to matter that much, lack enthusim now that I'm not activly farming and I have'nt got all my Thai farmer mates to ask the answers to difficult questions

Anyway I'm not sure theres enough scope for a dedicated form here as well but changing the name to gardening and farming sounds good.
I have more than the average number of arm and legs

Seems as if I am going against the grain.
I am of the opinion that there are too many forums already.
Having said that it is easy enough to block out those which are of zero to little interest.
Surely it is a very niche area of interest
However if it were merged into an existing forum then it would be more liklely to catch the attention of the majority of posters rather than it being consigned to a far off filed with only a handful of posters.

    Let the market dictate

Correct, I know who you are talking about, many of the posters has lost interest, and its really slow now, that is one of the reasons why I think it would be a good idea to start one up here on TD, lets see how it goes.

We really don't have that many pictures of randomchances with his arm up cows bums, and could a forum be based on a single person, an arm, and multiple partners? Ok porn sites get away with that sort of stuff, but, I think to some that maybe a bit different.
