A new place has opened up around the corner, I hadn’t been paying it much mind as it looked like a carwash place until I noticed the proper burger trailer had moved in also. Having tried them previously (smash burger style) I decide to partake last night. Left the Billy lids and ball and chain at home and told them I was grabbing take away.

Car wash in the background and also a barber shop, which is handy.

I noticed their menu also had a breakfast burger option. The fellow told me that open at 10:00am everyday (which is not exactly the crack of dawn, but I’m thinking a Saturday morning carwash and burger while I wait could be a good option.

They also have a beer garden and a slightly spartan but entirely functional boozer… perfect. Even had the football on. I think it was Villa vs Smeg.

it was topper, certainly worthy the ~$4 per burger and ~$1 per beer.

I think it’s more middle class price points. The supermarket does prepackaged hot meals, usually 1/4 chicken and shima or a sausage and shima or sausage and chips for around 50kwacha so spending 170 on a burger and chips is more expensive. A KFC burger, fries and drink is less than 100Kwacha.

I hadn’t considered the lack of stray dogs or cats. Really haven’t seen any at all. People in Lusaka have pets but they are all kept inside houses and gardens.

If only there was some way of finding out…

I shared the prices in Kwacha since the proper burger board - strangely enough- showed prices in K, as a comparison. Thus a fast food meal is 50% of a proper burger order, and full prepackaged meals can be purchased in a supermarket for 25% of the cost.

    ETA

conversion of ZMW to USD is currently around 27

whixh is not awfully different to THB to USD.

In fact, ZMW to THB is 1.2

That is true. Plenty of buxom African girls to flash a smile, if that’s your thing.

I could have sworn it was quacker.

Oh well, you're apparently an expert on the entire continent, having spent a few weeks in Las Palmas trying to flog timescare flats.

If he forgets, you could try some old National Geographics. Perve at some girls who were at their buxom best while you were still in elementary school.

The temperatures right now are cold overnight, and mornings (16-18°) almost crisp but tend to jump to 25-28° in the afternoons when the sun is out, which it always is.

Great for a beer in the sun with my companion.

We also tend to get glorious, regular sunsets.

Well, yes. Lusaka is relatively close to the equator (maybe 1,110 km or so), thus the variation in sunset times is less than 2 hours between winter and solstice. Google tells me that "In Lusaka, the difference between the latest and earliest sunset times is about 1 hour and 49 minutes. The longest day is 12 hours and 54 minutes, and the shortest day is 11 hours and 5 minutes"
