After 24 hours of travel, no sleep and straight onto shift upon arrival in our Luanda Yard, we have boarded our Vessel.

    The Ever Hope

    Attachment 124686

    Not too shabby.

General consensus amongst the crew is “this is the nicest fcuking boat I’ve ever been on in Angola”

    Things are looking up.

    ^ Looks OK!

Mind, it doesn't matter what a boat looks like... whenever you work on a new boat, afterwards the only question you ever get is, 'what's the food like'?

The other side of Statfjord C around midnight...

And still here a couple of hours later. The weather's coming up, so we need to get any close to platform work finished up as soon as possible.

How many hours of daylight are you getting up there at the moment?

    Chatgpt is your friend...

The Statfjord oil field, located in the northern part of the North Sea near the 61st parallel north, experiences extended daylight hours in May due to its high latitude. On May 19, 2025, the field enjoys approximately 17 hours and 49 minutes of daylight, with sunrise at 4:30 AM and sunset at 10:19 PM local time .Time and Date
As the summer solstice approaches in June, daylight hours will continue to increase, leading to nearly continuous daylight in the region. This phenomenon, known as the "midnight sun," is characteristic of high-latitude areas during summer months.
These extended daylight periods are advantageous for offshore operations at the Statfjord oil field, providing longer windows for maintenance and other activities.

My WiFi is a bit slow, everyone is on the same username and password.

hopefully we get Starlink once we’re at see, more than 12nm from shore.

That is a recipe for disaster. Clearly no IT department onboard.

It would depend on weather the rig is a jack up rig or platform
. Jackup rigs are mobile and used in shallower waters platform rigs are longterm.mendy might be able to answer you're question re depth of the ocean in particular locations.

    Department? IT department???

As I say, it’ll change once we’re at sea, hopefully fir the better but it’s still ok fir a vessel.

Im sharing my cabin with a diver. I’ve not met him yet but there’s a lot of V’s in his name so I’m suspecting Indian.

Once we are all rugged up and good to go, and start sailing, I’ll move to night shift.

Divers working days and ROV nights.

And not to bee too smug, but there’s a nice wee gym on here and it’s about 5 steps away from my cabin.

Looks like 8’m the only one interested in using it too.

I got in there last night to get a routine underway, starts you mean to continue!

If it wasn't for those dumb bells every day would be a chest day and running.

Nice to have you're on private gym.

Earning money and keeping fit, all good!

Looks like a shower hose rather than a proper bum gun. But it would still do the job.
