So I started doing hands-on, educational charity work myself, which results in a lot more value-for-money than what the big charities achieve. I'm actually quite surprised at what I have achieved last year with only a few hundred $.

The more that I did this, the more I understood better the exact educational needs of the kids, which meant that I could target my expenditure on the right sort of school supplies for each group of kids, rather than 'chucking mud at the wall and hoping some would stick'.
Then I found out about another orphanage, then another, then another...... which was a good reason to ride my dirt-bike into other remote areas.
