My opinions of other English speaking nationalities are formed by my upbringing, my home country culture, my age and my life experience and intelligence. (What inteligence, i hear you say).
I have no hatred of other nations, and i have come accross very few individuals of any nationality, who irritate me sufficiently to make me hate them.
All this Oz, Yank and Brit bashing seems to be a symptom of any nationality living abroad, who misses his or her home country. The individual is basically unhappy and insecure, and uses his inbuilt national pride to have a pop at other english speaking peoples, because an equivalent response is almost guaranteed.
The touble with this generalisation is that, like any other, it has an element of truth in it, but cannot be applied to any one individual.

Or it could just be forum boredom.

Dunno if they're bored, but I'm finding all these '....* bashing' threads very tedious.

Oooh, you sure you want to live in Thailand? I thought those qualities were more North American. A friiend did a psych test on me once. We were having dinner at a restaurant and he started subtly shifting things onto my half of the table -- S&P, flowers, his cutlery...subconsciously, I started to get agitated. When he couldn't move them any further without laughing, he gave up his point. Westerners do like their space. After living in Asia (including 10 yrs in LOS) I still like my space. In LOS, we'd be at a restaurant that's empty but for us and a noisy group with bratty kids in tow have to sit right next to us. WTF? I am better now, but I still like my space.[blackgang;1009130]

Let us all calm down and look at the basic statement

Arrogant, unfriendly and no sense of humour

    Arrogant ?

With every right to be !

After being conquered by the Romans , Vikings and the bloody French, we thought 'Fuck this - we will have a go at this - and did it better than them !
At one time the Brits ruled half the known world! - every right to be arrogant.

    Unfriendly?

The various coloured buggers living happily in their own countries didn't see it that way and we had to kill millions to get them thinking correctly- not really friendly ?
Set up English administration systems and when we thought they understood - gave them back their country.

    No sense of humour ?

What do you bloody expect ??
The new nations that the Brits created immediatly sank into the swamp of civil war and corruption and the Brits had to bail some of them out .

To put the grit in the KY Jelly a lot of the new countries citizens retained British passports !

When their new countries turned from shit to nasty they had the right to enter and live in UK!

There is not a smiley for tongue in cheek but if there was I would use it !

I am now going to retreat into my bunker to avoid the flack !!!

Seriously, there is only one country where I have been to where I didn't meet a single good person. Not a single redeeming feature. They were all scum and thieves; men, women and children.

    That country was Morocco.

We've never been conquered by the French!!!!

The Normans were originally Vikings, thus, their name.

Even in Chaweng i can find peace and quiet. Ignore the fools and the Brits on holiday and you are halfway there.

On my last trip to London (1972), I stopped at a tourist information booth near Victoria Station and asked for which bus I should take to go see Windsor Castle. I mistakenly used the American pronunciation of the "r" on Windsor, instead of the British "ah" sound. The lady acted like she couldn't understand me. I repeated my request three times while she shook her head. Finally she blurted out in a contemptible tone: "Young man! Until you learn how to pronounce 'Windsah Castle,' I will NOT direct you to the correct bus!" ...followed by one of those "Whatcha gonna do about it?" sneers.

Fookin' arrogant bitch. I walked off and found it myself.

Fast-forward to 2009: Today I have the revenge of teaching thousands of Thai students how the British murder their final "r's" in a pitiful attempt to speak their own native tongue.

Revenge of the TEFL'er, we're all quaking in our boots. I'd ask for smaller classes if I were you.

    Well said! Muahahahaha!

Classes are just right. 25 students. Enlightening their minds one student at a time!
    [25 students x 5 classes x 3 semesters per year x 7 years; do the math.]

Come on. Even a TEFLer should be able to do that! Do it yourself.
