Are there dozens of showers at the airport, or are these 1000s hot sweaty and smelly?

when they no longer are paid their 200bht a day,
Sabang you keep posting this. It's ridiculous. You obviously aren't in touch with what is going on. I wonder if yopu have some reason to propagate this idea when everyone else who is against the PAD is saying that most of them are 'loaded.'

The closer we get to the King's birthday the more likely this will end by itself. If the gov't doesn't crack down on them before that day, I bet they'll disperse. It's a good day to leave because if the protesters leave the police won't be able to do much to them as they leave. If they were somehow to continue this by occupying another strategic location there are place. One person I know though occupation of the shipping port of Lamchabang would be another hand to the neck. Bangkok seems to be designed to allow the military to block entry easily. If you block certain roads you can stop most road traffic from the north or east etc. I just don't see this going much further from the current events though.

You don't expect the skull cracking to begin tonight? The worry is the stupid bastards have took their kids along, probably as "baby shields". Brave, brave people, prepared to die for their cause, so take the kids too!

    "Where are you going darling?"
"Oh I am just popping out to defend democracy..cough cough ! I am prepared to die for my beliefs/200baht a day, by the way, I'm taking the kids, is that OK with you honey?"
"Yes dear, but watch out for tear gas, it burns the baby's eyes, and we haven't got the 30 baht scheme like we did in the good old days...and watch out for those bombs, I don't want the pushchair damaged!"

There are more effective ways they could quickly bring the gov't to its knees, such as take over Bangkok's tap water pumping stations. I'm still baffled as to why they chose the airport.

And as of today, if that shirt is regally yellow, the local taxi / buses, "rote que" will not pick you up, and you are probably going to be visiting your local hospital soon too!

Note to self: do not wear red or yellow when venturing out beyond the moo-ban boundaries.

    I predict this:

    Bangkok Pundit

    Reuters:
The assault by the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) was swift and savage, a head-on charge by a convoy of vehicles speeding down the wrong side of an expressway into scores of unarmed police.

As the terrified officers fled, some of them jumping through the open door of accelerating police vans, wild-eyed young men burst from the PAD vehicles, attacking with sling shots, fireworks, iron bars and wooden stakes.

The onslaught lasted no more than 15 seconds but left the five-lane highway, the main access route to Bangkok's besieged Suvarnabhumi airport, littered with broken glass and discarded police helmets and truncheons.

The police, who have orders not to retaliate against a movement backed by Bangkok's establishment grandees, had virtually no warning.

'The yellow people are coming,' one officer shouted, turning to run as the PAD vanguard, a large sound-truck blaring out anti-government vitriol, careered round the bend of the expressway exit.

Complete rubbish, the majority of the PAD people are their on their own accord and believe in what they are doing.

But, that implies thinking, planning & forethought, Smeg. I'm surprised at you, thinking Thais are capable of it. For once, I tend to think the opposite - that they were dumb enough to go there to disrupt the PM's plans (or better to nab him ) and then realised, through the publicity they received, that this was quite a good, strategic place to have hold of, so stayed.

If PAD really wanted to stir shit, they'd head not for the airports or seaports but refineries and oil storage facilities.

Why don't they all go home and have SomTam, and just leave everything to ASTV?

So much more exciting. And cheaper.

Who thinks that these people would really die for their cause, or are simply spouting typical infantile BS?

Really. You weren't about 10 posts back.

    Smeg:
^ This is the reason the chose the airports (first), because it affects mostly foreigners (directly), plus gets more international attention.
