@harry - sorry for the spilt coffee though I'm glad that you've drunk most of it. TD needs a caffeine-fueled vigilant Harry.
You have to bear in mind I did sleep through the 9.3 in 2004.

Denying it was a poor attempt at humour.

Yeah, he is. Now the snark is evidence of that.

    He's doubling down on it.

Saying it wasn't a joke, but posted in all seriousness.

I mean, he's a total twat, obvs, but that is clear.

I had experienced volcano after shocks in Angeles city but at the epicentre it destroyed much of Baggio. When the ground starts shaking its a really eerie feeling. Like wtf, what's going on? It's out of your control must be terrifying if your on the 30th floor of a building

I was certainly all shook up.

Not because of the minor tremor, but the worry of what might be next.

It's human nature to worry less the more often it happens, of course. Once one has come to terms with the powerlessness.

Strong earthquake hits Kengtung in Myanmar

An earthquake, measuring at 6.4 on the Richter scale, struck Kengtung of Shan state in Myanmar on Friday morning at 8.37am. It was followed by four aftershocks, according to the Meteorological Department.

The epicentre of the quake was reported to be about nine kilometres underground at latitude 21.189 and longitude 99.344 and about 100 kilometres to the northwest of Mae Sai district in Thailand’s northern province of Chiang Rai.

There were no reports of damage or casualties, but the tremors were felt by people in Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Lamphun, Nan and Bangkok.

In Chiang Rai, it is reported that students at some schools fled from their classrooms and gathered outside and medical staff, patients and visitors rushed out of Mae Fah Luang Hospital, while passengers at Mae Fah Luang airport ran out of the passenger terminal.

Kanchit Chomphudaeng, chief of the Chiang Rai public disaster prevention and mitigation office, said he is expecting damage reports to flow in later today.

He said he has asked officials in all districts in the province, especially Mae Sai and Chiang Saen districts, to conduct surveys and to report back to his office as soon as possible.

Tinnakorn Thathong, inspector of the Department of Mineral Resources, said that a 6.4 magnitude quake is regarded as big and it was caused by the movement of the Kengtung fault line in Shan state, adding that this is the first recorded time that a quake has been caused by this fault line.

^Chillax, guys. It's just a minor quake. Nothing earth shattering.

Turns out that there was also an earthquake here in PH, mag 6.8, yesterday afternoon at 1614H. Epicenter was near Saranggani in Mindanao island (in the south). I live in Luzon island, near Manila. My distance to Saranggani is like Bangkok to Phuket, so I didn't feel the quake.

^Some patients of hospitals in GenSan - General Santos city - were evacuated due to the shaking.

    From the philstar article
"In Davao City, a crane on top of a building under consruction collapsed due to the quake."
