While the OP photo is of a clear case of fashion crime, who cares? You get to an age, (or were always a rebel), when you don't give a stuff what other people think about your dress sense or lack thereof.
Luckily my wife enjoys my sartorial sense which, while not elegant, is natural and uncontrived and suits my masculine appearance. And she's the only one whose opinion matters to me.

I remember when my dad was the same, he'd given up on his appearance in his late 30s.

He used to take us shopping in his ''chillin'' casual wear: denim cut-downs and flipflops and a baggy old Laos t-shirt. Wasn't his fault I suppose, I have a baggy old shirt and shorts I wear indoors too.

Then he had a phase of 'wearing' an orange indian bedsheet in the house, around the waist. He kept tightening it in case it fell apart as he walked upstairs

I'd dash to the door fast when my friends knocked so they wouldn't see him. Me and my sister made up a small 'camp' under the stairs with our toys so we were nearest the front door.
