...I have friends who have retired to the northern end of Panama (near the CR border) and are very happy with their decision...
Have they settled in Boquete? If so, they've chosen a nice place for those who like mild weather, quiet streets, cheap booze in the mini markets, and easy access to a bigger city with most mod cons.
^...not sure...apparently, it's a rather gringo-ized settlement: a number of former US military officers and Canadian snowbirds...

^^^ I don't want to be pedantic, but.... a group of tortoises is called a 'creep' of tortoises.
Lovely looking animals. I once had a 'creep' of turtles I rescued from the market to make merit. The poor things were stuck in a bucket on top of each other waiting for someone to 'rescue' them, thus making merit. I got them home, released them with my daughter to watch them waddle down to their new home, and two died before even making it the 2 or 3 metres to the pond. These things can put you off Buddism.
Oh I know Mendip. I joke with NPT because there was a joke about betting on some races and we called them a hard.
These 4 have about 2 rai to random just cruise. They love after I mow as they eat up the fresh growth.
