9 years after paying $100 for my Giant Kronos I thought I would have a look round to see if she might be put out to pasture

I found this merkin Schwinn for $95

Cosmetically tired but sporting Shimano RS500 wheels and Ultegra groupset

    Show us your impulse buy-20230713_222032-copy-jpg

I offered $75 and he countered with $80 but he did not reckon with my slow-walk haggling skills honed from many visits to the frontline haggling battleground of Sukumwit road

After 2 minutes and 16 seconds of umming he finally caved and took the $75 but he was not a happy camper!

    Coz it's a Schwinn?

I'd be more worried about all those plugs in that adapter

^ I'm guessing the tools are ready to put up that massive mirror on the bedroom ceiling once he bites the bullet and allows one of the many ladies who enjoy his company to move in permanently.

^ I bet some action has watched that mirror.

I bought a pair of soundcore q45 bluetooth headphones, excellent value for the money.

Took her out for a 15km test run

    Show us your impulse buy-20230714_184045-jpg

Came across the tiniest house in Australia for sale. Quite well designed.

    Show us your impulse buy-20230714_184744-jpg

(if the tiny house is rockin' don't come a'knockin')

She goes like shit off a shovel with an aluminium frame and tip-top groupset and cranks weighing 2.5 Kg less than my old Giant

    Show us your impulse buy-20230714_185709-jpg

She does not have a frame pump bracket which I will swap over from the Kronos so I improvised with some gaffer tape

    Show us your impulse buy-20230714_185758-jpg

I had been looking on the ebays for a new LED taillight since mine stopped working. But she comes with one fitted so that saved me at least $9 taking the bike price down to $66

    Show us your impulse buy-20230714_190910-jpg

Only issues I had were the rear derailleur cable sheath had frayed and was entering the derailleur at an angle, and also a pulverised prostate from the hard racing saddle

    Show us your impulse buy-20230714_192332-jpg

This cable sheath would normally call for a bit of work to remove the cable, re-sheath and recalibrate the cable length, but does bodgy man want to do that when he has a cup full of tie-wraps?

    No he does not

    Show us your impulse buy-20230714_200952-jpg

I used that $9 taillight saving for a chitty-cheesecake, which I felt I had earned after my heart pumping hill climbs with those high road gears

    Top man, Loops.

Having gone from pads to disk brakes, I could never go back.

Though admittedly, you can probably adjust them in a manner that doesn't render them inoperable (either jammed onto the rim or not moving at all.)

    Can call Kym on 0413672940

...or wait until Looper works his magic and he can ask her personally around the fairy lights and BBQ.

It takes time, but you get used to the pain and then start to enjoy it!

Get yourself some padded cycling shorts if you haven't already.

    Respecto with the cheesecake

I am a late technology adopter so this is my first bicycle with combined brake/shifter levers only 25 years after they first came out!

I don't know. The rental crisis has created a fashion for these tiny houses but the ones I saw online a while back were not cheap. I think they were starting from about $60k including installation.

You could probably build a proper house in Thailand for half of that.

Lol! I had already ordered a gel saddle cover for the Giant so it will likely end up on the Schwinn.

Wonder how Tezza's Superannuation is going, the fooker would blow his fireman's helmet at the thought of cruising up and down the west coast with one of those badboys hooked up behind.

They're not the same, believe me for maximum performance you need the shorts.

    Try both and see though.

    The cheesecake looks nice.

That house is in fact a trailer - more T57 than Looper.

(I see that bastard, Edmond beat me to it... bastard. Don't you have a children's lego set to put together, Edmond? )

This could be you, Edmond (apparently the largest and most difficult lego set to build):

    Cycling should be banned!!!

Retro game emulator. Came with 3000 games but also easy to add your own. Goes up to PS1 era.

And it looks like a Gameboy.
