Anyway, it is no myth that Thais avoid confrontation, but it can be badly misinterpreted (especially by foreigners). A Thai not arguing with you, or not openly disagreeing with you, or getting visibly getting upset with you does NOT mean that he agrees with you, or is not sick to the back teeth of your shit. He may hate every word you are saying, and you will not know it.......right up to the moment you go that one step too far, and he hauls off and tries his best to rip your head from your shoulders, or grabs a knife, or a hammer.
The real problem for foreigners is realizing that while foreigners generally grow up in a society with a spectrum of responses, Thais generally have two - overtly emotionless and berserk.
