Friday it is. Old Fashioned night with a unique rye whiskey from Lip Service ( Distilled in Tennessee, finished in Calistoga). Tracked down some Maraschino Cherries with a hint of Woodford reserve.
Cheers
Washing down a spicy lunch with a well-stirred, chilled, iron rich monthly special.

Whiskey
not a bad drop.
the tasting notes say "this silky-smooth full-bodied whisky harmoniously combines warm notes of spice with hints of nutty marzipan and dark sherry oak. A satisfyingly rich and sweet Glenfiddich."

Caveat emptor is a Latin phrase that translates to "let the buyer beware." It means that an individual buys at their own risk. Potential buyers are warned by the phrase to do their research and ask pointed questions of the seller.
Happy to help!

Brum.
I've been introducing the daughter to the old English custom of an afternoon pint to while away the afternoon when the weather's shite. I want her to learn about her roots and culture... someone has to teach her this stuff and they don't cover it at school.
When I was a kid there was also parking down the centre of this street... an interesting quirk no doubt deemed to dangerous for the modern day.

I also remember when 'Prospect House' was the village Post Office and when the telephone box had a telephone in it. My dad taught me how to make free calls by jamming a lolly stick down the coin slot.
In fact I remember when the village had around 15 to 20 shops and now it has just 3 or 4, yet the population has probably trebled since my day. The slow death of a village.

Anyway, after boring the daughter senseless with tales of old, our destination was reached. She could get on the Wifi and I could get my pint of Butcombe, the most glorious pint of bitter that exists.

In fact, it was so good I had a second. Helge was lying on the floor again.

Butcombe Brewery is now located in my mum's village and it makes a really great pint. When the wind's from the east my mum's house occasionally gets filled with the wonderful hoppy, yeasty aroma of brewing beer. Sadly the wind is almost always from the west, hence such shite weather this summer.

Butcombe beer is a real local success story and I once even saw it for sale in Glasgow, although never in Bangkok as yet. I wonder if any UK members have ever tried it? In fact, in the name of research I will make a pledge right now... I will give a Green* to anyone who posts a pint of Butcombe bitter in this thread.
* Or an 'owed' Green
Is this the one, Mendip?

Amazon?:)
I buy most of my booze for home from there nowadays, those fukkers monitor and price match every offer the supermarkets come up with.
I'm on my last can of Kronenburg sat here in the garden at the mo. 15 440ml cans for 10.99. I cant be dealing with those 2 swig 250ml bottles and dropping the things off in those bottle/charity clothes bank after.
Dont you feel a bit gay/get some funny looks when ordering a pint of that?:)
A decent beer.
