Thread: What are you drinking today?

Life is full of difficult decisions.

My first of the day was whether to have a big slug of whisky while waiting for the results of my PCR test, and hopefully freedom. The results have been promised for 8am.

I wouldn't normally drink hard liquor before breakfast, but after six dry weeks offshore that was an easy decision... but the second was more difficult...

So I had one of each!



Incidentally, I couldn't get an Easter Egg for the daughter at Oslo but Istanbul came up trumps. It wasn't quite what I had in mind but beggars can't be choosers and all that. Drinking whisky before breakfast doesn't seem quite so sad when you have company!

I have an old Thai friend coming over tomorrow to stay for the weekend

Hopefully she doesn't understand xo or vsop and the weekend gets as debauched as Mendys

The last time I travelled back up to Korat from Bangkok on the weekend before Songkran I swore that I'd never do it again...

But of course I did.



The bright lights and razzmatazz of Bangkok are all very well but I'm getting too old for all that stuff. I wanted to get back to Korat for some home cooking.

This is where I belong... back to normality. All seven are there if you look carefully.



And despite rumours, not a Lady Boy to be seen. I'm determined, yet again, not to slip back into old habits but the first night home is different so I allowed myself a couple of Leos with Highland Park chasers.

Yogi is turning into a really great drinking buddy. Just like my old mate Hartley, in Axbridge, Somerset, Yogi just sits there, says nothing, always looks happy with a big smile on his face and always buys his round. Perfect... apart from the buying his round bit.

this stuff was on special at the local liquorland for 55 AUD so I have given it a try - the reviews said it was ok

I think it is quite good - smooth taste with a bit of ice or without

this trend of whiskies is quite alright - I enjoyed the Bruichladdich barley I tried previously and will get another of this spearhead while it is still at a good price

No she's married ma. Hasn't aged to well tbh.
Like a lot of Asian women when they hit 40.

I can imagine tasting all the above drinks but wife has banned me from the alcohol cupboard again. High blood pressure again so I'm sticking to perrier. Looks like my alcohol days are finally over apart from birthday and new year .

There's got to be a way to lower your BP so you can get back on the piss?

^ It's lowered via drugs at the moment. An hour a day exercise isn't working when mixed with booze.
