I won't allow my son to play on devices at social occasions.
OK on the train or waiting for something to keep him occupied but this nonsense of kids (6 and 8) playing games on pads at every occasion is fucked up if you ask me.

Gets to my nervs when you are in a face to face chat with someone, the mobile rings and he or she interrupts our talk and commits to the telephone as if that's the most natural thing to do. No 'do you mind if I took that', not so much as a 'sorry'. Manners in decay. I made it a habit to put this person on ignore afterwards unless it's about something important. Is there no app invented yet that stops the ringing and sends an SMS to the caller, maybe 'sorry I'm busy and call back asap' on the push of one button? I disliked the mobile stuff right from the beginning, understood it more as the means to force oneself upon others than as means of communication.

Your friend could have just turned the ringer off with one touch, the caller will still hear it ringing in his earpiece, obviously that phone call was more important than you. But yes that was quite rude of him

Actually most phones do one better than that, you can set to recieve, reject, or reject with message. (pre written).
    Very simple.

I like that film where Daniel Craig is having dinner with someone who keeps getting interrupted by the phone. He just grabs it and chucks it out the window.

A guy on the bus had his text message tone as a loud baby crying and he was obviously in a serious text chat with someone because every two minutes this loud baby crying sound was heard. I was very close to grabbing it off the c*nt. Sad thing was he thought it was hilarious.

hardly get called on my mobile, so that's not a problem

my monthly mobile usage is round about £1, mostly on texts for work

started using viber for free texts and calls, so might be even less

also use mine as a GPS, both for driving and for tracking walks... wouldn't use it up in the hills and it kills the battery.... but useful for little walks out and about

Do you find you have to have to move out of people's way on the sidewalk/road, because they're engaged in their phone.

I've nudged a couple of folks who were walking into my path, oblivious to the real world, because they were in their smartphone world.

Fuck 'em. I have a smartphone. An S4. But I don't walk around with it screen-to-nose.

    Guess I'm getting old(er)..

Nah, i just keep walking and do a funny sort of limp arthritic leg act to sort of trip them up. And keep walking.

It's like when someone asks you for a cig, whilst your smoking, - i just say i gave up a week ago. Shit, i pay my money for my cigarettes not for theirs.

But, regards the phone thing. My Slaplike phone is really on it's last legs after five years or so. And the sales are on and my mum gave me some cash so i may buy a new one.

Off shopping tomorrow. I was rather going to go for a pair of Levi's but a phone may be fun. And cheaper than the jeans. With perhaps a camera to make photos with.... of this awful grey, dismal city.

    You'll enjoy it bro/sis. Just don't don't become a nose-screen-runt.

There are plenty apps that make life easier.

But still keep your head up you can butt those cunts out your way..
