BBC Sport - MotoGP champion Casey Stoner to retire at end of season
Quite a surprise!
He was in oz in the off season during testing v8 supercars and was right on the pace.Don't be suprised if he gets a drive with one of the teams. He's made plenty, just had a kid probably thinks its safer on four wheels.

He is one hell of a rider, I hope he can go out as champ and retire still being able to to walk without a limp AKA Mick Doohan, like it has been said he has made a lot of money and time to get out ,Good luck to him

What a great race came down tonight. Lorenzo win by 9 seconded in the rain. But the battle for 2 or 3 went on the last 6 laps. Finally Rossi past Stoner for second. Put F1 to shame when it comes to pure racing. Wow.
First time Rossi has gotten up to second with Ducati.
Fantastic entertainment AO been going for many years all forms of bike racing ,, Took the wife to her first bike race when she arrived in the UK , scared the crap out of her and she's been hooked ever since![]()

After a splash fest at Le Mans a few weeks ago, MotoGP riders will be hoping for much better weather at Montmelo this weekend as the championship arrives in Barcelona for round five.
Stoner reigns on first day in Phillip Island
Stoner’s time in the high 1.29s was over eight tenths ahead of his teammate Dani Pedrosa, who was nonetheless improving steadily across the session, with his sole aim this weekend to finish ahead of Jorge Lorenzo. And it was Yamaha Factory Racing’s Lorenzo, who could clinch the world title on Sunday, that occupied third spot on the timesheets, albeit over a second off the top time set by Stoner.
Monster Yamaha Tech 3’s Cal Crutchlow came in fourth, with the Brit doing extremely well to overcome flu type symptoms he has been experiencing since leaving Malaysia earlier this week. In fifth, his teammate Andrea Dovizioso had a solid day, though will have to find something extra if he is to take third spot in the championship off Stoner this weekend. Behind him in sixth, San Carlo Honda Gresini’s Álvaro Bautista was on good form, seemingly finding some of the confidence in the bike he had two weeks ago in Motegi.
Seventh place went to his satellite counterpart Stefan Bradl, on his LCR Honda MotoGP machine, who was the last of the riders to be within two seconds of the top. Ducati Team’s Valentino Rossi ended the day in eighth as top Desmosedici, although the Italian, who has won at this track five times in his career, will no doubt be looking for a lot more.
In ninth, his teammate Nicky Hayden was the only rider in the top ten to not better his time in the afternoon practice session. Power Electronics Aspar’s Randy de Puniet completed the top ten, with the Frenchman not only finishing as top CRT, but also beating the satellite Ducatis of Pramac Racing Team’s Héctor Barberá and Cardion AB Racing’s Karel Abraham.

Well done, Casey.
His sixth consecutive Phillip Island victory.
great race under lights at doha, lorenzo took off and was un-challenged,
was hoping marquez would hold off rossi for second, still a great result for first gp .
crutchlow was looking good early on.
should be a cracker season
great gp race of americas, marquez won on the honda from pedrosa.
in his second gp race, he got pole, is the youngest winner ever in gp's.
beating fast freddie spencer's 31 year old record, not bad for a 20 year old.
IMO a red card should have been issued yesterday
i don't think lorenzo and marquez will be swapping christmas cards,
but marquez is not going to back off just because it is his first year,
i like his riding style.
^ and ^^ Why, what happened? I watched until about ten laps from the finish and then I turned it off.
^ Marquez was in a battle for 2nd place, behind Lorenzo and tried to go on the inside of the end of straight corner. Couldn't get his own line and T barred Lorenzo, almost taking both of them out! Sadly I missed the podium, so didn't see the reactions from either rider. Not sure if Marquez was/has been punished.
Thriller of a race season though!
