Well if my calculations after several IPAs are correct, if that happens then Japan will top the group which means we (NZ) will face an angry Ireland in the quarters instead of — all due respect — the easier route of Scotland

Tonga? Nope. Their campaign for the quarters is finished. England still has to play France and Argentina. As it stands now, no lock on the quarters for any of those three teams.

I will not say a single positive word about the White Ferns until this WC is over...

It has been a good WC so far. The Kiwis look like the Kiwis, but have been beaten by Ireland twice recently, so playing them in the quarters would be a great game; I wouldn't like to call it... Argies looked ok in parts, France looked ok in parts, England looked ok in parts (but sooooooo many errors), Convicts looked ok in parts, but under pressure their fullback makes so many vital errors, Bokks look pretty good. Wales look pretty good. Can't see Japan or Scotland beating the Bokks in the quarters. Can't see England easily beating Wales or the Convicts in the quarters... Can't see England easily beating Ireland in the semis either...

Tomorrow's prediction: Wales to win comfortably; You can bet your trousers on that!

England just aren't there in this WC - we are decent, but not right on our game, and there are several better teams in the competition. I am coming to the realization that this isn't 2003.

To be fair, that was an excellent performance from Japan. I'm not sure they can keep up that level, and Ireland did fall into their game plan a little bit, but Japan were very good.
