Thought the dutch took a more positive approach into the game though.
That to me is more important than what happened in the quarter finals.

Live by the sword, die by the sword...
What a crap way to win (or lose) a WC semi. We can only hope the final does not end up like that. I personally hope Germany blows the Argies out of the stadium.
All these S. American cnuts need shutting down....diving, clutching, grabbing whinging prima donnas; the lot of em....
All of them.... tonight.... how much of that did we see?Originally Posted by koman

the only problem is that in 4 years time, new coach same old thinking. More frustrating even to a Welshman is that England play this way, and they are just not good enough to do so.... Play the US way, the Australian way, one might even go as far as to say..... the English way!!
Look how successful English teams were in Europe when they took the game to Johnny Foreigner.... now they play the same way and look shite doing it.... club level doesn't matter now as few English players are involved.
Luckily as a Welshman I can sit back and take the piss......
I can imagine the Argentine dressing room. 120 minutes and they succeeded in scoring no goals only for the keeper so save four penalties.
"You idiot! Do you realise that now we have to play GERMANY !!??" Seems the Dutch keeper was on message.
Bit of a lame way to go out of a semi final.
Nice to see the new Manure head coach taking off his best penalty taker with his third substitution which stopped the expert penalty saver from being brought on, just before the penalty shoot out (nice double wammy - must've been scared of facing the Yermins); leaving the keeper who has the distinction of having NEVER saved a penalty in the Dutch league, champions league or international competitions...
Cycling should be banned!!!
Like I mentioned previously, it seems Argentina is in a reverse evolution in this cup (yes that's an oxymoron, not unlike their play so far). The further they get into the tournie the worse they seem to get instead of the opposite and they never show a different gear, like the Germans did for example..Originally Posted by Thormaturge
I only watched the first half as I had to be up early. I didn't think it was that bad. Both teams concentrated on the opposition danger players and they did this effectively. A couple of good chances for Argentina left me thinking they would snatch victory before the final whistle.
Looking forward to the final. Play-off for 3/4 is a loser's game that has never interested me. It always seems more of an exhibition match. Still remember that Shilton horror error against Italy.
I was wondering how on earth LvG settled on a player as modestly talented as Ron Vlaar to take the first penalty.
Apparently it was because two other players refused....
Seems like a piss weak attitude from his players to me.LvG: “It should give you confidence, playing another one having just had a shoot-out, and we took those penalties in an incredible way against Costa Rica. But the issue is you need to score the first one and I asked two players to take the first ball before ending up with Vlaar. I thought he was the best player on the pitch so should have a lot of confidence. It just goes to show it’s not easy scoring in a penalty shoot-out.”

Talk about not being able to face reality? Seems that old Mick is being scape goated for Brazils down fall..
Brazilians begged Mick Jagger not to support their team at this World Cup. He developed a reputation for cursing the teams he supported at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa when he was present for the elimination of England (his homeland), the U.S. (he attended with Bill Clinton) and Brazil (he has a Brazilian son with model Luciana Gimenez). But that turned out to be nothing compared to the horror he ushered in at the 2014 World Cup.World Cup Angel of Doom Mick Jagger attends Brazil-Germany match, Brazil lose 7-1
Y! SPORTS
Seems though, depending on how you read it, in reality he's good luck for at least one team in each game? Glass half full and all that...
Unfortunately that's true Most of our own call it Holland, we even say "hup Holland". Those ignorant bastards!Lived/worked there for four+ years . . . sigh, even the Kaaskopjes call it Holland, though.
Anyway, too bad Van Gaal didn't change the goal keeper since Cillessen is a really bad penalty keeper. Oh well, go Germany!
Van gaal gambled and lost with the subs.
was shocked when i realised Krul was out of the picture for a guy who had never saved a penalty.
oh well, 1 team from Europe and 1 from S. America for the final is justice for the
S. American effort.
Tough shit, Holland, 3rd place won't be the end of the world, hopefully.
Suarez appeal against his biting ban has been rejected. He can now appeal to the CAS.
Hopefully they will tell the minging little twat to go feck himself too.
Baked goods in the form of soccer jerseys with the 7:1 result of the FIFA World Cup 2014 semi-finale match of Germany against Brazil are seen in a bakery in Stuttgart, Germany, July 9, 2014. The bakery is run by the brother of the headcoach of the US national soccer team
They should be getting used to it by now..Originally Posted by billy the kid
