^ I’ve been watching that. Very good series. Just hate waiting on the next episode to come out.

Well kind of, but there was still lots of new content coming out, and movies especially were going straight to streaming.

I don't know how long it will take before it becomes a big issue, but it's not like they can even pull from a library of banked scripts to work on, because the actors won't dop them.

    This hasn't happened since 1960.

I was going to open my post above (related to Hijack) with,…….”If you watch the first episode, you’ll be compelled to watch the second”.

    Secret Invasion (TV, 2023).

A short (6-ep) Marvel series with Samuel L. Jackson.

Not bad if you can get past the crap acting of the baddie who for some reason keeps slipping into an irritating welsh accent.

    6.5/10

Just finished "The Crowded Room", an Apple TV offering that stars Tom Holland in what is a 10 episode psychological thriller. One of the better series I've watched this year.

The Crowded Room: Limited Series - TV Reviews - Rotten Tomatoes

Gets hammered by the critics, for what that's worth.

The main complaint seems to be that it is way, way too long.

It's length contributes to the quality of the series. The component characters are exposed to the point of belief that they actually exist. I standby my recommendation.

    Secret Invasion - crap, don't bother... 5/10

Hijack - not very good, but strangely addictive, so I've enjoyed it. 7/10
(Last one today, looking forward to it, and will hope for another series. It has enough set-up in place for series 2, imho)

At this point everything Marvel is just an attempt at wringing blood from a stone.

They could do a "Departure" and make the next one on a train.

And the next one after that on a boat...

Indeed. I'll second your mention of "Full Circle", as I'm half way through the six episodes now. Quite a good thriller, with a reasonable cast that includes Clare Danes and Dennis Quad, and benefiting from the directing talents of Steven Soderbergh.

Now, don't get all premenstrual like harriet, PAG.

    It's not your style.

    I just presented a counterargument, that's all.

Everyone treats harriet's recs like a bible.

They've no intention of reading them.

Just my sense of humour Cy. I never pay any attention to ratings from RT/IMDb etc, instead looking at the cast and the plot. I haven't read comics since I was about 10 or 11, so anything out of the Marvel stable is a no-no for me. Similarly any other film that relies on spectacular special effects to overcome a lack of plot and acting prowess, or far fetched scifi. Give me a good story, be it comedy, thriller, the occasional horror or even heaven forbid, romantic, as long as the quality is there. Sadly, few films in recent years have I bothered watching, and it's going to get even worse with mandatory gender equality casting, regardless of the competence of the preferred actors.

Lack of good scripts have to be playing a part in the migration of a great number of 'A List' actors appearing in TV series now, which is obviously good for them for continuity of working. They just have to be careful not to be recruited as a 'name' for poor series in the way that Robert De Niro has allowed himself to be in the crap he's featured in recent years. I though Sam Jackson in 'Secret Invasion' was an example of perhaps ill judged choice.

'Wolf' from the BBC dropped a few days ago.

    Kind of 'wickerman' meets 'blackmirror'.

    I'm enjoying it.
