Been downloading few things with me new-fangled uTorrent thingymajig.

Good selection, terrific actually. Certainly has it in spades over Limewire et al.

Still not overly impressed/happy with speed though, particularly d/l speed. Been downloading Battlestar Galactica for the last 4 days (admittedly a huge d/l at 11.something GB)

I have got them all already, what a great series. Waiting for Jan 20 Episode 12, it will be available the next morning. Isn't the Internet great ?

Hopefully you are not using both at the same time..
Limewire will grab almost all your bandwidth and torrents will seem to be slow

Actually I learnt that lesson the hard way, tried Limewire while uTorrent was running

Interestingly enough it was uTorrent that seemed to 'prevail'. I have the 'pro' version of Limewire and the connection would/could not get over 'Good Connection'.

OK, after reading all this torrent crap I decided to give it a try. Don't really know what the flock I'm doing but anyway.

Downloaded Azureus but can't seem to get it to run.... Something about Nat error or some such thingy.

Downloaded u torrent and am trying to download some Iron Butterfly for a test. Got a << ! Warning >> "If you have a router/firewall, plese check that you have port 20021 UDP open, Decentralised tracking requires this."

What are they on about? Can't find anything on this laptop that has anything to do with port numbers etc.

Seems to be downloading rather slowly.... Seeds 4 (6) and peers 1 (6)

Course with the shit connections I'm probably lucky at this point. Using iPSTAR into a Toshiba laptop. (512/256 package)

you need to open a TPC/UDP port 20021 on your router to let the traffic go in. If you don't have a router, open your WinXP Firewall and let the traffic open in both ways for TCP/UDP for port 20021

...and if you're not technically minded, El Gibbo, and need help about how to do this, then just poke a small hole in your router with a sharp obect like a nail, and a hammer.
