I've watched the 1st 3 episodes and IMO it's as good as the movie so far. The Coen Brothers are involved and they're keeping it smart. Like 'True Detective' I don't expect it to last too long.

I read somewhere that the Coen Brothers read the first script, said basically 'OK, get on with it, but we're movies people'.

Not certain that's true, of course, but you can't really conclude the 'smartness' is down to the Coen's just because they are credited as executive producers. That term can mean just about anything. There's no reason to assume they have any creative input whatsoever.

I do agree that the series has been very good so far. BBT is excellent, and works really well off...err..the bloke from 'the office'.

"Joel and Ethan read the first script," says Hawley. "They were very complimentary about it. Then they saw the first episode when it was completed, and Ethan said 'Yeah, good'. Billy [Bob Thornton], of course, has worked with the Coens two or three times. He said that 'Yeah, good' is like a rave review from Ethan."

    http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/cheap_thrills_2013/

it was quite good - I liked what one of the critics had to say , sums it up nicely

I walked out of a screening feeling like I had just put my tongue on a 9-volt battery. In a good way.
Cheap Thrills follows Craig (Pat Healy, Compliance), a struggling family man who loses his low-wage job and is threatened with eviction. In an effort to delay facing the music at home, he heads to a local bar and encounters an old friend (Ethan Embry, Empire Records). The two friends are roped into a round of drinks by a charismatic and obscenely wealthy stranger (David Koechner, Anchorman 2) along with his mysterious wife (Sara Paxton, The Inkeepers). The couple engages the two friends in a

I think I recommended too in one thread, it's a great show, too bad it's so short, only 5 episodes, and Season 2 is nowhere to be seen

The Fall was great, with Gillian Anderson. I recommend it. Hopefully, there will be a second Season.

Devious Maids is back for Season Two, quite amusing.

I'm starting to do a Slaps and starting at the beginning of Breaking Bad. I never watched it because here it was on three different channels and each were putting on different episodes - so i got a bit confused and gave up. Also, watching it in French put me off.

Got food and booze and cigs in - Breaking Bad night for Pats!!

Thanks, good info. I didn't know they were basically uninvolved. Since they throw the brother's names out front in the credits, I assumed they did more than read a script. The writer's and directors sure can copy their style.

One in the Chamber.... Cuba Gooding Jnr, Dolf Lungdren. Don't do it, no questions, just don't.......

Guns, Girls, Gambling. Christian Slater, Gary Oldman, Lindsay Lohan (just a little bit). Low budget, but a fun flick if you don't expect anything too serious.

A cat walked over my keyboard when I was browsing kickass.
No, No, wait, I was drunk.
Err..someone else downloaded it, I have no idea who, while I was drunk and chasing cats out of the house, then they renamed the file to "Unforgiven".
    Yeah..that's what happened.
