    Vantage Point.

the story of an assassination attempt on the life of the president of the USA, the film tells the story in 5 separate takes, and then rewinds 30 minutes so as to tell the story from 5 different view points of the various people around or involved.

We do not get the whole picture, but as the film progresses. There are quite a number of surprises and twists, a long car chase scene, which i didnt mind.

However, I thought that the movie wrapped up all the ends a little too neatly. For once, hollywood avoided the love interest theme, thank god. the theme here appears to be one of heroism.

there is little character development - perhaps due to the fractured story telling method.

overall i enjoyed the movie but not necessarily one to watch again and again, 7/10.

    Meet the Spartans.

    A spoof of 300.

Funny enough to be enjoyed on a Saturday morning. Not funny enough to go to the movies to see.

    7/10 for brainless entertainement

Day of the Dead - poor remake of George Romero classic. Ok I get sprinter zombies, but how do they get the ability to jump 10-15ft in the hair from standing still??? Also a few them craw like spiders on the ceilings. I liked Dawn of the Dead remake, but this was a rather weak effort. 4/10

Another oldie but goodie prison movie I enjoyed watching again recently. This time driven along by a cracking soundtrack written and performed by members of The Who.

Roger Daltrey radiates menacing violence in the title role.

Screw:- "We like trouble here McVicar"

McVicar:- "Well make sure your not involved, cause I'll stick a tool right in your belly"

Ranks as one of the most ridiculous films I have ever seen.

Stoneage man has been at the depilatory cream and discovered his feminine side. I swear this could be the same lot that played the Spartans in "300".

A complete historical and hysterical muddle, I have no idea how films this silly ever reach the screen.

    1/10 (the Thais love it)

Doomsday - ok a virus outbreaks in Glasgow and civilized english put a wall around Scotland and let it fend for itself. Many years later same outbreak occurs in London and they send in a team into Scotland to find the doctor who has rumored to have found the cure. Bit like mad max meets the cannibals. Very entertaining and brought to by the same guy who made The Descent and Dog Soldiers. 7/10 (not a dull movie)

The Water Horse - it's about nessie, it's actually not bad as far as children's movies go. The missus really enjoyed it. I thought it was OK but didn't pay full attention.

I rate Dogsoldiers as one of my all time werewolf movies. Looking forward to this one now.

Just looked and it's all CAM releases just now. Have to wait for an R5 or DVDscr rip.

Michael Caine, the husband, and Jude Law, the wife lover, in the famous theatrical murder game

will need to see the original as this was a bit boring,

    Quote Originally Posted by IMDB

The original was a pleasant enough and entertaining enough recreation of the Anthony Shaffer Broadway success. Then, Joseph L Manckiewicz, with the able complicity of Laurence Olivier and Michael Caine, went for the gadgetry and deception that made the play a world wide success without adding or detracting much from the original. Now, Jude Law, producer as well as star, approached Nobel laureate Harold Pinter to reinvent the whole thing and reinvented he did. Michael Caine takes now the Laurence Olivier part and Jude Law falls into the Michael Caine part, perfectly. The elements are now cruder: the language, the set, the wardrobe. Thankfully, it's also shorter, much, much shorter. What's missing is the innocence. This time things are taken a bit too seriously. The homosexual element is a novelty but, I must say, not a surprise. Jude Law exudes sex. It's impossible to put him in a confined environment with just one other person and not be sensitive to the sexual possibilities. He provokes without half trying. He plants sexual ideas in your mind and you feel compelled to break rules and go for it. His Lord Alfred Douglas was a triumph because of that. You understood Oscar Wilde's journey of self destruction just because Jude Law was his navigator. Kenneth Brannagh's theatrical touch works beautifully here and the two actors are worth the price of admission and more. So, at the bottom of all this chatter there is a recommendation. If it had been up to me however I wouldn't have gone to Harold Pinter for the revamping of this minor classic but to Alan Ayckbourn, Alan Bennett or even Tom Stoppard, but that's just me.

Western starring Christian Bale & Russell Crowe. A typical western, lots of shooting and almost everyone dies. Adds nothing new to the genre. Seen it all before.

    Stardust

A couple of big names in what is kinda a family movie. Has a very The Princess Bride feel to it with a mixture of fantasy, adventure, comedy, but not quite as classy. Very enjoyable.

    Resident Evil: extinction

Was expecting this to be a bit crap, was pleasantly surprised. The RE world has now turned into something more like Mad Max's desert post apocalypse scenario. The movie advances the old storyline a little but not much. A pleasant waste of time.

Outpost - Mercs are sent in to Eastern European country of no name with who hired them to retrieve minerals in an underground bunker. Things are not what they seem and things go from bad to worse rather quick. Think BKK recommended this one - was rather entertaining and moody. 8/10

^^ No its a horror movie of sorts, shot in washed out film - quite impressive for a low budget affair. I don't want to give away the twist - so just rent it mate.

Much less self-concious performance from Slurvester and a politically articulate storyline.

'Shoot 'em Up' is a good one very funny and over the top.

Mr. Smith is waiting for a bus when a pregnant woman runs by, chased by a group of thugs. Smith kills them and delivers the baby, but the mother is killed. Chased by the evil Mr. Hertz and an army of goons, Smith enlists DQ, a lactating prostitute, to help him care for the baby.

After a series of impossible gun fights, Smith discovers the truth. A Democratic presidential candidate and supporter of draconian gun control measures is dying, but had several supporters impregnated from his sperm so he could harvest the children. The women were killed by Mr. Hertz who was working for a wealthy firearms executive. However, Mr. Hertz and the Democratic politican cut a deal to work together.

Smith played by Clive Owen is great,I never realised carrots could be used as a weapon, hilarious stuff.

    No End In Sight

    No End In Sight

This film is worth viewing whether or not you agree with the Bush administration policy in Iraq. It takes a close look at the conduct of the post-invasion war and includes extensive interviews with some of the major players; many of whom detail the many mistakes that were made that resulted in the current quagmire.

The bottom line is that post-invasion policy decisions were made by leaders at the top who had little or no personal military experience, little or no experience or training in the strategy and tactics of occupation and little or no understand of Iraq, its people and the overall political situation in the middle East. As a result, there was little or no post-invasion planning and what planning was done was ill-advised and ineffective.

Perhaps the most telling quote is from a Marine corporal who did two tours of duty in Iraq and who remains convinced that it was right for us to go there: "Please don't tell me that this is the best America can do. That makes me angry."
