Good cast (John Leguizamo is excellent as his partner) in a taut portrayal of a true story (Operation "C-Chase") that happened in the 80's, and took down a huge number of players and bankers (BCCI was a huge bank that lent to the underworld). 8/10 from me. Very enjoyable movie.
Really good movie based on a true story. 8/10 from me as well.

too old , fat and wise for that now
No gun. Dos were fitted with GPS trackers. Lots of running yes and it was hard going with wet and muddy jeans and shoes after the first pig was caught in the water. 40 degree day so it was already hot at sunrise. Not something I would do every week but interesting none the less.

Had another look at this last night (sat)
My favourite Ken Loach film...kitchen sink drama from the sixties of poverty, squalor, and unhappiness....at the end Jan said to me " after watching that hard to believe Britain had an Empire "

    Nostalgic...enjoyed it (again )

25 years from the sad and premature passing of Carol White,

    Money Monster (2016) - IMDb

    with Clooney and Julia Roberts

A lot goood actors in it, but the story was lame and not very original, a lot of cliche

    to be watched if bored,

I like to poodle around youtube from time to time on my smart TV in that it tends to present me with a random selection of films and other stuff that seem to come out of nowhere other than serendipity. Occasionally, it throws up a real gem.

Last night I watched The Sandwich Man 1965 set in swinging London starring Michael Bentine and a veritable who's who of British acting. The story is quite lame but the real treat is savouring the shots of London at that time since most of the action takes place in outside locations. Very nostalgic and some of the film scenes were wonderfully surreal - Dora Bryan talking about her deceased husband being really "massive" was a hoot.

Cracker (TV Series 1993?1996) - IMDb

Long intricate visceral material 2-3 hours each

Not movie but re-visitng the UK crime series Cracker
Robbie Coltrane as hard drinkin gambling profiler in graphic Gunchester
Very 90s look forgotten how good it was and superior to a lot of recent attempts
Russia went from being 2nd strongest army in the world to being the 2nd strongest in Ukraine

    Yep, that was great.

Wire in the Blood not bad either if you're going retro.

    Captain Fantastic (2016)

Viggo Mortensen turns in a terrific performance as a Father of 6 kids, the whole family living off the grid in a forest environment; hunting deer and growing crops by day, reading quantum physics and philosophy at night.
Their hippy halcyon world spins off its axis upon the news of their estranged Mum has committed suicide, and the family embark on a journey (in a worn out old bus) back to civilization to attend the funeral.
Some great twists and turns and genuine comedy gold here (the family have a "Noam Chomsky Day", instead of Christmas), without the film straying too much into shmaltzy cliches or sentimentality.
Not my usual bill of fare but really enjoyed this comedy drama, very involving and well-paced. The film belongs to Mortensen, but great performances from all.
    9/10 from me.

The Hateful Eight, Quentin Tarantino (2016).

Starts out with an interesting Western story providing social commentary with a host of intetesting characters and proceeds onto what Tarantino loves to do best - raising hell with blood splatters.
(Not the end of the world if you give it a miss. Enjoyed Samuel Jackson's 'toughman' performance.)

    6.8/10...but I'm a fairly tough critic.
(I had really enjoyed Quentin's Pulp Fiction , Sin City and Kill Bill(s) above 9. Just sayin'.)

I let it run all night. Up to 42%. Currently stalled out. Pissing me off. I don't even want to watch the thing. It shows up in my Plex library under New Movies, so I think the link is good. I'm just going to let it run all day and see what happens.
