Watched it last night. I'm still slightly traumatized by the elephant scene.

Like a lot of Cohen's stuff, certain scenes make your toes curl a bit, but mostly thought it a was a larf-riot. Lewd, crude and unpretentious, and very funny.

    9/10.

    I wouldn't call it traumatised.

    Bored shitless maybe.

    What a pile of shite.

2/10. Again, only because I want to leave some wiggle room.

^ Certainly a rip roaring comedy for tough Northern folks, for us sensitive Southerners there were endless scenes that just went too far; in fact the entire film was in terribly taste. Dil would love it...

Watched The Martian 2015. A crew member tries to survive after his crew mates left him behind

Good humour, good music, great moments. And a few "we can all get along better, together" moments.

"During a manned mission to Mars, Astronaut Mark Watney is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. With only meager supplies, he must draw upon his ingenuity, wit and spirit to subsist and find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive. Millions of miles away, NASA and a team of international scientists work tirelessly to bring "the Martian" home, while his crewmates concurrently plot a daring, if not impossible, rescue mission. As these stories of incredible bravery unfold, the world comes together to root for Watney's safe return."
A tray full of GOLD is not worth a moment in time.

Not a bad translation of an excellent book.

    So did I.

Hence "not bad" as opposed to "excellent".

"Warcraft" (2016, English w/ Thai subtitles).
I'm not a gamer nor is this type of movie high on my viewing agenda. The visual effects were good and the muscular , warring characters with "big underbites and large hands" were well done and played.

The two Thais (age 20 and 39) that accompanied me said it was "Good" (3) on the Great-Very Good-Good-Not Good-Bad (5 -1 scale) ; they are not gamers or Warcraft followers either.

Supposedly this film did very well on it's opening weekend in Int'l box offices. Assuredly if you are a follower of Warcraft or a fiction gamer it may well appeal to you with or without popcorn.

    "Hardcore Henry"

Extremely violent. Filmed to look like a 1st person video game, this follows 1 insanely savage day in the life of a newly-activated cyborg, right from being initiated and activated from surgery.
The violence is staggering, hilarious and pretty original, it must be said. But the flimsy plot tends to erode your attention after a while.
Tim Roth has a nominal part in the film, but Sharlto Copley is good as the multi-personality avatar guiding Henry on his rampage around Moscow.
Worth a watch, if you're in the mood to kill someone. 6/10.

I watched Black Sea the other day - not a bad Jude Law performance as captain of a band of bandits looking for Nazi gold in the Baltic sea.

Had its moments but ultimately a little contrived and an unsatisfying ending.

    5/10.

I don't base my personal opinions of movies on what other people think of them.

You have newspaper reviews if your tiny little brain is incapable of forming its own opinion.

Anyways, I watched Gods of Egypt last night, and enjoyed it. Some beautiful ladies in it, and some half clad men for Dilly to ogle.

^The "Hardcore Henry" film is credited with Russian directors / producers etc. English speaking cast though.?

Anyway, thanks for the "Gods Of Egypt" heads up, BB. It's on my internet box already.
