I know - oldies again. But I just watched Doctor Zhivago again. For about the tenth time. Why don't they make movies like this anymore? Great musical score, great story, fantastic acting, and incredible scenery and photography. I watched about three movies over the last week - all motherfucker this and motherfucker that; drug dealing, rap "music" - just garbage. Now and then, I just have to watch a real movie, to remember what they were like and why I loved the movies.
I agree. It took me a couple of minutes to realize that dentist was the same guy who played the SS Major in Bastards. It must be fun to be part of a QT film.DJango unchained - excellent - Tarantino at almost his best.
I'm looking for a film to watch , how about
Life of Pi
worth downloading ?
I was told how great the book was and years ago I read the first page or two ,
but got annoyed when he started telling me 'interesting ' facts , about a Sloth I think , rather than gettig on with telling me a story , and did not bother reading any further .
Yep, I thought it was brilliant.Originally Posted by blue

Skyfall,
taking the ridiculous and the gayness to a whole new level, even by British standards
boring shit, one of the worst ever
Last night I watched 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1', here is my review....

God Bless America
A middle aged guy hooks up with a teenage girl to go on a shooting spree. It's sardonic, but doesn't really pull it off.
If you like watching Americans kill each other you might like it, but not in a yippee kiyaay kinda way.
6/10
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!"
The Master - 2012 Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson
This film has an unmistakable kinship to Let There Be Blood by the same director. Joaquin Phoenix gives a superb performance as a self destructive loser who makes a weird, unlikely connection to a self-styled cult guru played by Philip Seymour Hoffman. This is a beautifully shot film crafted by a man in total command of his art. Not for everybody but I found it to be a remarkable film. 9/10
Life of Pi - 2012 Directed by Ang Lee
Another superb film by a modern cinematic master story teller. What a great big beautiful movie that is both visually exciting and thought provoking. 9/10
Hitchcock - 2012 Directed by Sacha Gervasi.
I really wanted to like this film because I am a huge Hitchcock fan but I ended up feeling that it did his legacy a huge disservice because it is largely a piece of made up fiction. Anthony Hopkins looks trapped inside a rubber fat suit and gives a totally unconvincing performance. 5/10
^Ocscars usually go to uplifting films. This movie was dark and introspective - hardly a ploy to win an award.
Delicatessen
One of the best movies ever made. Watched for the first time in years. 9/10

Hard movie to critique,it's about Life,Love,Hope,Despair,Karma,Rejuvenation and whole lot more.

As Molly would say,do your yourself a favour.
You're fat,Ill fro you in the river
Agree on both counts. The Master is a brilliant film and it sent me back to watch There Will Be Blood again. I liked it the first time but this time thought it was a bloody great film.Originally Posted by Humbert
It would be interesting to do a thread about posters' favorite Father and Son flics. That does seem to be the main theme in Anderson's films.
Watched Silver Lining Playbook on a plane- otherwise I wouldn't taken notice- and was pleasantly surprised. I struggled through the first 30 minutes or so, then it drew me in. Might have to watch it again to be sure it wasn't merely Stockholm Syndrome.
