    Alex Cross (2012)

No links as i wouldn't inflict that kind of pain on a stranger.
Starring nobody, this B release takes a good suspense/thriller character and and turns him into a really shitty action blob.
Picture is for warning purposes only. Just don't do it.

    Freelancers (2012)

This movie stars De Niro, Forrest Whitacker and Fiddy Cent.
Fiddy Cent is the son of a slain corrupt cop who gets inducted into the same corrupt police ring when he steps out of the academy.
Fiddy Cent cannot act. At all. The number of plot holes is only surpassed by the number of totally implausible and unbelievable scenes and events. It's like the script was a collaboration between Cleverbot and an 12 year old retarded kid who had too much red cordial.

What the fuck De Niro or Whitaker is doing in this piece of shit is anyone's guess. A lot of these A listers are appearing in a lot of completely crap movies of late. maybe they all went broke in the GFC.

Again no links, pic is for warning and avoidance only.

    Haywire (2011)

This movie didn't get great raps on IMDB, but I gave it a go on the strength of the ensemble cast. Ewan Mcgregor, Micheal Douglas, Antonio Bandaras, Channing Tatum, directed by Steven Soderbergh and starring Gina Carano, an Ex Female MMA star.
A group of mercenary black op types are given a job, once done the life of the group leader (Gina) takes a downward turn as she is set up for a crime and targeted for death. Mayhem ensues.

The plot is a little dodgy, but the flow of the movie and the superb action sequences from the obviously talented female lead make it an enjoyable flick, far better than the IMDB rating would suggest. I say 7.5.

I don't understand why this movie would have plot weaknesses, it wouldn't have taken much to fix. It's really like Hollywood writers aren't even trying anymore.

    IMDB 5.8

Cheers Necron. I accidentally watched Freelancers as well. Deleting Alex Cross and downloading Haywire.

Haywire is pretty good. I enjoyed it. Some good bone crunching action too.

Just watched it. Agree. 6/10 at best. Gandolfini was bullshit, and the story line and very abrupt ending sucked. Plus, I hated having Bush or Obamination screaming out of the bar TV in EVERY bar scene.

    St Georges day - Typical cockney geezer/bad boys/thugs/football types/gangsters.

Predictable plot with a few twists and turns and a reasonable cast (Charles Dance). If you want to sit back, relax and not have to think too much then its worth a watch (just for the naked women in Amsterdam).

The one I watched was by BHRG and it was flawless quality.

Texpat and Butterfly would love it.

The Hobbit - What can I say. If you liked lord of the rings, then I'm sure you`ll like this too.

Theres a good screener out there by RiSES

Absolute pile of shite. Turned it off after 45 mins.
Imdb gave it 7.7 and I really don't see why.

Watched this last night and I've got to disagree with you chaps, thought it was really rather good. Brad Pitt seems to be getting better and better as an actor the older he gets.

I didn't get whole motif with the Bush / Obama politics either although there was clearly some intended message in it. Mind I'm usually oblivious to that kind of thing: movies have a way of making me feel dumb.

Going against the flow with this one it seems.

    Seven Psychopaths (2012)

Screenwriter gets a little to close to his subject, mayhem ensues.
Great ensemble cast, Colin Farell in a very different role, the always good Christopher Walken, and a surprisingly, refreshingly original story. The story with a story filming style might not please some, but I really enjoyed this movie. Pulp Fiction on peyote but without the killer soundtrack. I say 8.

    IMDB 7.7
Torrent (screener and seeded to hell an back,I got it in about 30 min)

    Second on my double feature.

John Dies in the End (2012)

Offbeat Indie Horror/SciFi/Comedy. While not a full on parody there are more than a few nods thrown to past classics. This is the sort of movie you will either love or hate, I loved it. Eminently watchable with fine acting and a well written and paced script.
7.5 if you are in the right sort of mood. (maybe some shrooms)

    IMDB 6.7

I watched Flight yesterday and thought it was a very good flick with excellent acting expecially by Denzel Washington. Hollywood loves movies about drunks so he will probably get the Oscar.

ZERO DARK THIRTY - 2012 Directed by Kathryn Bigelow

The story of a CIA operative's obsession with capturing Osama Bin Laden.
I am a little weary of the subject but I decided to watch it because it was nominated for Best Picture. Tight direction and good screenplay. Fifteen minutes of editing would have kept it from dragging in the middle. Jessica Chastain did not do it for me in the lead role. 7/10

    Watched this last night:

Hopkins good as usual and all-in-all not a bad film. There was just something about it though, can't quite put my finger on it but it was like it was almost too aware of it's Oscar potential given the cast and source material that it tried too hard and took itself a little bit too seriously.

I dunno really, in any case I'd say a solid 7/10 and worth a gander.

    Agree with both of these.
The Hitchcock was a strange one. The subplot with his wife either made it, or ruined it. Not sure which.

Just watched "Argo". It gets off to a slow start, but builds up to some good suspense. Afleck was quite good. Not sure it quite lived up to the hype - 8/10.

Watched "St. George's Day" last night. It was badly in need of English subtitles. Being a three year veteran of TD, I was able to follow some of the dialogue. The missus asked two or three times what language they were speaking, and said screw it and went to sleep.

I havent got a clue why you would of wanted to see the film. I saw a screener of it a few months ago and it was pure cack.

Go and watch Football factory. So much better ad also most of the actors star in that too. Still has cocky rhyming slang though.

Also with a great big read cross on a white background, isnt that enough of a hint to say thats the English flag?
