There are some things that don't belong together food wise.
Just today I was talking about this as the topic of discussion with my students was "Favorite Foods" , with the context being the history of pizza.
While discussing toppings, a particularly nasty student of mine said, "My favorite topping on a pizza is pineapple."
I then asked where pizza originated (from the text, the Greeks) but my students all responded "Italy". While internally sighing, I then asked the students if they knew if pineapples grew in Italy. After a few moments, the general consensus was that no, pineapples didn't grow in Italy because they're a tropical fruit (which made me feel tons better after them failing to read the caption that said the Greeks probably invented pizza).
Next, I explained that pineapple was what is known as "pizza heresy" , meaning it was literally against God's law and that a truly Italian pizza would NEVER have pineapple. These two things, pizza and pineapple are meant not to belong together.
My next line of inquiry was to ask how many of them didn't put pineapple in somtam or tom yam or ketchup on their kwuay thiao and then ask why not?
Burgers and beetroot are the same....two things that just don't belong together.
That burger did look pretty good, I just wish Thais would properly crisp up the bacon.
"I was a good student. I comprehend very well, OK, better than I think almost anybody," - President Trump comparing his legal knowledge to a Federal judge.
^^^ chicken looks a bit dry. Is it deep fried?
And that bread needs chucking to the ducks or cooking
I told them North Korea, but I did tell them the story of my first pizza with pineapple which was in Japan during the mid 80's. I let them draw their own conclusions.
What? A teacher confessing their views are only their opinion in the classroom? You've never been in a Thai classroom, right?
And the topic was pizzas so I didn't even begin to touch on toppings some think belong on a burger. Beetroot? Onion rings? Fries? Somtam?
Though that might be an idea...somtam on a sandwich like cole slaw as a topping.....

^^ Oh look, it's my pet Hippo.
Wot a surprise.
I'll have to side with the Aussies on that one.
I read somewhere the other day that American baked beans are a lot sweeter than the Brits Heinz, which is probably why you dont like them for breakfast, although that wouldn't explain your pancakes bacon and sausages wringing in Maple Syrup
These beets youve tried on a burger are pickled right?
Scurvy is a nasty disease.
Prevention is better than cure.
^ great for burning off genital warts too, erm i'd imagine
Fish Friday- haddock
299 baht. Very reasonable for Thailand. Beats eating the cack I cook up
Thats a huge plate that.
Looks good.
Did you eat out or delivery?
Beets and ice cream definitely have no business together...ben and jerry should be shot at dawn.
The answer is obvious...a well heeled American never farts before the noon repast, whereas Brits are unencumbered by this social norm.
I would agree with American baked beans tasting sweeter...but with a deeper range of flavors which builds a more robust bit of flatulence. Americans just choose to end their day with a bit of gas, rather than endure it from the start of the day.
Dillinger that fish looks really good, glad you didn't defile it with ketchup.
Which do you like better, haddock or cod?
Lulu, did you Otto that chicken, or deep fry?
Beetroots on salad yes!
Beetroots with cold meat yes!
Beetroots on pizza.....hmmm.
Beetroot crumble?
Considering the sources....
